Norwalk girls rout Northwood for 10th win

NORWALK — Spread the wealth. The Norwalk girls soccer team did that and then some in Monday's 10-0 win over visiting Northwood in a Sandusky Bay Conference match at Contractors Stadium. The Truckers scored eight goals in the first half as they improved to 10-2-1 overall and 8-1 in the league. Norwalk trails Woodmore (12-1-1, 9-0) by one in the standings with two matches remaining. In Monday's win, 10 different players scored, and three more different players added assists to the scoring. In the first half, Xavi Immel, CJ Bennett, Claire Spettle, Kira Sandor, Taryn Temple, Bertha Martinez, Katie Aguilera, and Kylah Daniels each scored goals for Norwalk. Spettle assisted Immel's goal, while Yareli Hernandez assisted on Martinez's goal, and Olive Leavitt added an assist on Daniels' goal. In the second half, Roxana Martinez scored, and Ella Andrews closed out the scoring off an assist from Audrey Sanders. "All together, 13 different players were involved in scoring opportunities," Norwalk head coach Michelle Sandor said. "That's awesome to me, that we could spread it out and get everyone involved while gettin younger players on the field. "It was a great opportunity to get them to play and also score." Norwalk hosts Clyde on Thursday and visits Oak Harbor at 12:30 p.m. Saturday to wrap up the week. BOYS SOCCER Norwalk 4, Northwood 0 NORWALK — The Truckers scored a pair of goals in each half of Monday's SBC win over the Rangers at Contractors Stadium. Elliot Gahring scord twice, while Noah Jameson and Aiden Khan each scored once. Landon Ferkel had two assists, and Jack Pittenger had one. Abe Linder made three saves for Norwalk, which improved to 7-5 overall and 6-1 in the SBC. TENNIS Port Clinton 4, Edison 1 PORT CLINTON — The Chargers got a win at first singles in Monday's SBC Bay Division loss to the host Redskins. Liz Campbell won for the Chargers over Anastasia Hughes, 7-6 (5), 6-2. At second singles, Jenna Keoghan fell to Shantha West (6-1, 6-1), while Port Clinton won by forfeit at third singles. The first doubles team of Scarlett Bennett and Faith Maschari lost to Grace Arnold and Nora Pixler (6-1, 6-1). At second doubles, Ilah Reynolds and Teagan Farrell fell to Lilly Hatt and Jaelynn Mazur (6-0, 6-0). JUNIOR HIGH Clyde tops NMS volleyball CLYDE — The Norwalk Middle School volleyball teams lost to the host Fliers Monday night in SBC Lake play. The eighth-grade team lost in three sets, 25-14, 17-25, and 25-20. Laney Schlotterer had five kills and two blocks, while Lilli Kipp had four kills, Harper Reamer had three, and Londynn Clifton added two. Brynn Sellers had eight digs, while the quartet of Kipp, Clifton, Mia Helton and Olivia Roth each had two. Sellers and Kipp and were 100 percent servers. The seventh grade team fell in two sets, 25-23, 25-20, to fall to 11-2. Both teams visit Tiffin Columbian on Wednesday.
