Western sweeps South Central for FC win

The Western Reserve volleyball team picked up a road sweep over host South Central for a Firelands Conference win Tuesday night. The Roughriders improved to 10-6 overall and 5-4 in the FC after posting scores of 25-19, 25-22, and 25-19. For Western, Emma Hammond had eight kills and Drew Clemons finished with seven. Hammond had 12 digs, while Stella Blake served 12 points and Makayla Case had eight points. Jamie Muenz also set 18 assists. South Central fell to 5-10 overall and 3-6 in the FC with the loss. Kenlea Blair had eight kills and three blocks for South Central. Aliya Lopez had seven kills, and Taylor Smith had 20 digs. Keragin Gray finished with 25 assists and was 10-for-10 serving with two aces. The Trojans head to St. Paul on Thursday, while Western entertains Monroeville. Monroeville 3, Crestview 1 MONROEVILLE — The Eagles dropped their first set in Firelands Conference play, but still won the match over the Cougars Tuesday to stay atop the standings. Monroeville (14-2, 9-0) posted scores of 25-27, 25-18, 26-24, and 25-23. Madi Reiner finished with 23 kills for the Eagles. Alexa Adams had 12 kills, followed by Ady Adams (10), Riley Platte (6), Gabby Loose (5) and Haley Morman (5). Addison Lyons set 29 assists and Kaci Poths had 25 for the Eagles, who also got 39 digs from Addison Homan. Alexa Adams had 12 digs, while Lyons and Poths each had 11 and Ady Adams finished with 10. Monroeville (14-2, 8-0) also won the junior varsity match with scores of 25-7, 26-24. New London 3, Plymouth 0 NEW LONDON — The Wildcats improved to 10-7 and inched above .500 at 5-4 in the FC with Tuesday's sweep over the host Big Red. Pailee Wilson finished with 17 kills and two blocks for New London. Gracie Thomas had nine kills, 16 assists, 13 digs and served four aces. Also for the 'Cats, Ava Ringler had 13 digs and Harper Clemons had 10 assists. Haille Pylant served four aces and Addison Yetter had three. St. Paul 3, Mapleton 0 ORANGE TWP. — The Lady Flyers improved to 8-3 overall and 8-1 in the FC with a three-set sweep over the host Mounties Tuesday night. Shealyn Deeter finished with 12 kills, while Brooklyn Cassidy had nine and Kegney Stoll had eight. Annie Friend set 30 assists, while also adding 10 digs. Bella Guerra also had 10 digs, and Lily Cuturic had nine. Friend was also 15-for-15 serving with two aces, while Taegan Mansfield-Bush was 9-for-9 serving with four aces. Willard 3, Margaretta 0 CASTALIA — The Crimson Flashes (12-3, 4-1) took a three-set sweep over the host Polar Bears in SBC Bay Division play Tuesday night. Willard posted scores of 25-12, 25-18, and 25-17. Teagan Schaffer finished with 11 kills for the Flashes, followed by Natalie Slone (9), Camryn Wiers (7) and Leah Weiss (5). Weiss had 19 digs and Slone added 15, while Alexis Rettig had nine and Wiers added seven. Also for Willard, Emelia Tallman was 20-for-21 serving with 16 points and an ace, and also had 12 assists. Weiss was 17-for-19 serving with 13 points and two aces, while Wiers had nine assists and Mya Stephens had six. Edison 3, Port Clinton 0 PORT CLINTON — The Chargers improved to 7-9 overall and 3-2 in the league with Tuesday's SBC Bay Division sweep over the host Redskins. Edison posted scores of 25-23, 25-16, and 25-15. Taylor Moore broke the program record for digs at 1,227, surpassing Jordan Mitnik (1,221). She finished with 15 in the match. Also for Edison, Ella Booth had nine kills and served seven points. Peyton Bissell had 10 assists and 12 points and three aces. The trio of Dana Preston, Abby Cloud and Macari Harris each had five kills behind Peyton Taylor's six. Stella Brown added 11 points and three aces, and Paige McFadden had 12 assists. JUNIOR HIGH NMS teams sweep Bellevue BELLEVUE — The Norwalk Middle School volleyball teams each took the road for an SBC Lake win over host Bellevue Monday night. The eighth-grade team won in two sets, 25-23, 25-20. Kalli Oates and Lilli Kipp led the team with seven kills each. Laney Schlotterer added five kills, while Londynn Clifton had four, and Harper Reamer and Brynn Sellers each had two. Olivia Roth and Aubree Brutsche set the assists, while Mia Helton, Oates and Lilli Kipp each had three digs, and Brynn Sellers had two digs. Sellers, Clifton, Roth and Oates were each 100 percent servers. The seventh-grade team improved to 10-1 with a win in two sets, 25-12, 25-8. In the first set, Kayla Naseman, Adelinn Sitterly, and Kara Russ led the serving. The momentum carried into the second set, with Naseman, Russ, and Ava Iehle-Ball taking over the service game to seal the second set. Both teams stay in SBC Lake play Wednesday at home against Sandusky.
