Norwalk girls rout Edison for SBC road win

MILAN — The Norwalk girls soccer cruised past host Edison by a 7-1 final score for a Sandusky Bay Conference win Monday night. Standout Claire Spettle had three goals and and an assist for the Truckers, who improved to 9-2-1 overall and 7-1 in the league. CJ Bennett added two goals and an assist, while Xavi Immel had two goals and Kira Sandor had an assist. For Edison (3-6-2, 3-3-1 SBC), Juliana Johnson scored the lone goal off an assist from Kailyn Dickman. Becca Farmer made five saves at goalkeeper for the Truckers, who host Northwood next Monday. The match will be youth soccer night. Youth players can wear their jersey to the match for free admission. BOYS GOLF Beatty sixth at Edison HURON — The Willard boys golf team placed eighth among 17 teams at the annual Edison Invitational held Monday at Sawmill Creek golf course. Amherst won the event with a 321 score. Vermilion shot a 329 to finish second and Lexington was third with a 331. Adler Ames shot an 82 for the Crimson Flashes, who finished with a 354. Kaleb Weaver was next with a 90, and was followed by Isaac Frye (91), Harrison Meisner (91) and Jaxson Hall (99). Norwalk was the next area team with a 363 to place 11th. The Truckers were led by Luke Metcalf (84) and Cohen Shoop (88). Emytt Graffice was next with a 94, followed by Caleb Thompson (97) and Jarrett Scheid (99). Host Edison shot a 378 to finish 14th.The Chargers got an 86 from Hayden Lewis and a 91 from Owen Price. The lineup was rounded out by Mason Hermes (99), Eli Hermes (111) and Weston Gfell (102). For St. Paul (421), freshman Mason Beatty shot a 79 to finish tied for sixth overall on the leaderboard. Also for the Flyers, Connor Polachek had an 88, followed by Tristan Schlachter (112), Everett Beal (142) and Jacob Penwell (155). VOLLEYBALL Norwalk 3, Wellington 0 NORWALK — The host Truckers improved to 8-5 overall with scores of 25-11, 25-8 and 25-9 Monday night over visiting Wellington. Emily Tyler finished with 24 assists, six digs and served 14-for-15 with five aces for Norwalk. Maddie Gamble had 11 kills and six digs, while Sydney Moehlman had six kills and Ainslee King added five. Also for Norwalk, Sawyer Wineman had 17 digs and Reagan Mooney had eight. Lola Schlotterer was 9-for-10 serving with three aces. New London 3, Keystone 0 LaGRANGE — The Wildcats improved to 9-7 overall with Monday's sweep over host Keystone in non-league play. New London posted scores of 25-9, 25-13 and 25-14. Pailee Wilson paced the 'Cats with 15 kills. Gracie Thomas had eight kills and 12 assists, while Harper Clemons had 10 assists. Ava Ringler added 10 digs and three aces, while Hailie Pylant also had three aces.
