St. Paul, Monroeville win again in FC play

NORWALK — The St. Paul volleyball team swept Western Reserve in Firelands Conference play Thursday night inside Harvey Keller Gymnasium. St. Paul posted scores of 25-17, 25-19, and 25-23 to improve to 7-2 overall and 7-1 in the FC. At the net, Kegney Stoll had nine kills and two blocks, while Ella Kalizewski and Brooklyn Cassidy each had six kills. Annie Friend had 24 assists, while Lily Cuturic had 23 digs. Also for the Lady Flyers, Kalizewski had 18 digs, Cassidy had 17, and Friend added 12. Cuturic was 14-for-14 serving with four aces and Friend was 14-for-14 with three aces. For Western (9-6, 3-4), Emma Hammond had seven kills, while Drew Clemons and Stella Blake each had four. Makayla Case served eight points and had 21 digs, while Jamie Muenz was 92-of-95 setting with 12 assists. Monroeville 3, Plymouth 0 MONROEVILLE — Monroeville swept Plymouth 25-10, 25-13, 25-7 to improve to 13-2 overall and 8-0 in the FC. Ady Adams, Riley Platte and Haley Morman each had seven kills for the Eagles. Ady Adams also had five aces. Addison Homan had 18 digs and Addison Lyons finished with 17 assists. Kaci Poths had four aces. New London 3, Mapleton 0 ORANGE TWP. — The Wildcats swept the host Mounties for an FC win Thursday. New London (8-7, 4-4) won with scores of 25-14, 25-16, and 25-20. Gracie Thomas had 12 kills, 12 assists and 11 digs for the Wildcats. Also for NL, Pailee Wilson had 10 kills and two blocks, while Ava Ringler had 13 digs and Hailie Pylant had 11 digs. Addison Yetter added six kills, seven digs and served four aces. Crestview 3, South Central 0 OLIVESBURG — The Trojans fell to 5-9 overall and 3-5 in the FC after losing to the Cougars in three sets Thursday night. Crestview won with scores of 25-14, 25-23 and 27-25. For South Central, Chloe Beverly and Kenlea Blair each had seven kills. Taylor Smith had 26 digs, while Keragin Gray finished with 28 assists and Bry Lopez had 14 digs and was 14-for-14 serving with four aces. Willard 3, Edison 0 MILAN — The Crimson Flashes improved to 10-3 overall and 3-1 in the SBC Bay Division with a sweep over the host Chargers Thursday night. Willard posted scores of 25-15, 25-14, and 25-10. Natalie Slone paced the Flashes with 11 kills at the net. Camryn Wiers had seven and Leah Weiss added six. Mya Stephens had nine assists, while Wiers and Emelia Tallman each had six. Defensively for Willard, Alexis Rettig and Weiss had nine digs, with Wiers adding seven and Slone had six. Weiss also served 17-for-18 with 13 points and four aces, and Rettig was 13-for-14 with 10 points and an ace. For Edison (5-9, 2-2), Dana Preston had four kills and served five points. Taylor Moore had 11 digs and Paige McFadden had 10 assists. Peyton Bissell added six assists and Abby Cloud had three kills. BOYS SOCCER Edison 8, Wellington 2 WELLINGTON — Edison improved to 10-0 with an 8-2 win at Wellington. Alex Davidson led the Chargers with four goals and an assist. Carter Jones added three goals for Edison. Jose Serna Amaya, Trevor Leimeister, Kellen McDonald, Gannon Chartrant and Gavyn Blackburn each scored one goal. Serna Amaya added two assists.
