Norwalk's Spettle scores 100th career goal

NORWALK — The Norwalk girls soccer team cruised past visiting Tiffin Columbian and junior standout Claire Spettle reached another career milestone. The Truckers cruised to a 6-0 win over the Tornadoes for the Sandusky Bay Conference win at Contractors Stadium. Spettle scored four goals and assisted the other two scores. The Bowling Green State University commit notched her 100th career goal with her fourth and final tally of the night as Norwalk improved to 7-2-1 overall and 5-1 in the SBC. Also for Norwalk, Xavi Immel added one goal and one assist, while Emerson Reamer had her first goal of the season. Bertha Martinez and Ella Andrews each added an assist. Norwalk stays in SBC play when it visits Huron at 2 p.m. Saturday. BOYS SOCCER Norwalk 4, Columbian 0 NORWALK — The Truckers kept pace with both Edison and Perkins as unbeaten teams in the SBC with Wednesday's win over the Tornadoes. Kingston Gonzales, Elliot Gahring and Landon Ferkel scored for Norwalk. Columbian also had an own goal. Ferkel and Gahring each added assists, while Brady Ream made three saves at goalkeeper. Norwalk (5-4, 5-0) visit Huron at 4 p.m. Saturday. GIRLS GOLF Norwalk third at Lake tournament HURON TWP. — The Norwalk girls golf team finished one stroke ahead of Tiffin Columbian and just four strokes away from second-place Clyde on Wednesday at the Sandusky Bay Conference Lake Division championship tournament. The Truckers shot a 402 on the Thunderbird North course, which was behind champion Perkins (384) and Clyde (398). Columbian had a 403 and Bellevue finished with a 412. Emerson Ulery led Norwalk with a 98 and Evelyn Welschenbach had a 99. Ulery's total was eighth overall and Welschenbach was ninth. Also for the Truckers, Catherine Beamer shot a 101 and Adyson Lepley fired a 104. Rounding out the lineup was Allison Konik (112) and Chloe Stanford-Jones (123). BOYS GOLF Truckers shoot 358 In the boys Lake tournament, the Truckers totaled a 358 on the Thunderbird North course. Bellevue won the tournament with a 322. The Redmen were followed by Perkins (329), Clyde (340), Columbian (356) and the Truckers (358). Jarrett Scheid led Norwalk with an 86 and Cameron Shoop had an 89. Emytt Graffice was next with a 90, followed by Luke Metcalf (93), Caleb Thompson (102) and Avery Reitzel (104).
