St. Paul, Monroeville win FC matches

NORWALK — The St. Paul volleyball team swept past visiting New London in a three-set sweep in Firelands Conference action The Lady Flyers improved to 6-2 overall and 6-1 in the FC with scores of 25-18, 25-15, and 25-11. At the net, Brooklyn Cassidy had nine kills, while Ella Kalizewski finished with seven. Kegney Stoll added four. Annie Friend totaled 23 assists, while Lily Cuturic had 12 digs. Friend had nine, and Kalizewski and Kate Stieber each had six. Cassidy finished 9-for-10 serving with three aces, while Friend was 13-for-14 with two aces. Kalizewski was also 9-for-10 with an ace. St. Paul hosts Western Reserve on Thursday. New London fell to 7-7 overall and 3-4 in the FC. Monroeville 3, Mapleton 0 ORANGE TWP. — The Eagles continued to roll along in FC play, as they did not drop a set in the first half of the league schedule after Tuesdays win over the Mounties. Monroeville — ranked No. 8 in the Division VII state poll — won with scores of 25-19, 25-10, and 25-16. Madi Reiber led the Eagles (11-2, 7-0) with 12 kills at the net. Alexa Adams had nine kills, followed by Ady Adams with seven, Riley Platte with six and Haylee Morman with five. Addison Lyons had 18 assists and Kaci Poths finished with 14. Addison Homan led the defense with 19 digs, while Lyons had 12 and Maddy Miller totaled 11. In junior varsity play, the Eagles (11-2, 7-0) won in two (25-22, 25-14). Crestview 3, W. Reserve 2 OLIVESBURG — The Roughriders lost in five sets for the second consecutive night, this time in FC play to the host Cougars. The Cougars (10-4, 4-3) posted scores of 25-23, 16-25, 26-24, 23-25, 15-13. For Western (8-5, 3-3), Emma Hammond and Drew Clemons each had 17 kills. Stella Blake served 15 points and Jamie Muenz had 13 points. Makayla Case finished with 25 digs. BOYS GOLF Norwalk fourth at Shootout SANDUSKY — The Truckers shot a 180 to finish behind Bellevue (160), Columbian (165) and Perkins (168) at Tuesday's SBC Lake Shootout held at Mills Creek. Cohen Shoop led Norwalk with a 43, and Jarrett Scheid had a 44. The rest of the lineup for the Truckers included Avery Reitzel (46), Luke Metcalf (47), Emytt Graffice (49) and Caleb Thompson (53). JUNIOR HIGH NMS teams fall at Perkins PERKINS TWP. — The Norwalk Middle School seventh and eighth-grade volleyball teams lost SBC Lake matches Tuesday at Perkins. The eighth-grade team lost in three sets, 25-17, 23-25, 25-22. Laney Schlotterer finished with six kills and four blocks, while Lilli Kipp had six kills and three blocks. Kalli Oates also had four kills, and Londynn Clifton added three. Mia Helton also played strong in the back row, while Brynn Sellers, Stella Kipp, Schlotterer and Lilli Kipp were 100 percent servers. The seventh-grade team lost in three as well, 25-19, 10-25, 25-20, to drop the team to 9-1. Adelinn Sitterly, Kayla Naseman, and Harper Gilbert were strong at the service line, while Lexi Schmidt, Gilbert, Ella Ames and Kara Russ led the team in kills. Addie Hance and Kayla Naseman contributed key assists throughout the contest. The team looks to bounce back next Monday as they travel to Bellevue.
