Edison wins in five at Western Reserve

COLLINS — The Edison volleyball team held off host Western Reserve in five sets in Monday's non-conference match that also serves as the annual breast cancer awareness event for both programs. The Chargers improved to 5-8 by posting scores of 25-21, 23-25, 25-22, 18-25, and 15-11. Dana Preston led Edison with 15 kills at the net. Macari Harris had seven kills and four blocks, while Ella Booth had six kills and three blocks, and Abby Cloud added three kills. Paige McFadden had 16 assists and Peyton Bissell added 13. Taylor Moore led the defense with 25 digs and Stella Brown added 12. Edison served eight eights in the win. Moore had 13 points and three aces, while Bissell had 11 points and two aces. Brown added nine points and an ace, and McFadden had five points and two aces. For Western Reserve (9-5), Emma Hammond had 15 kills and Stella Blake had 12. Jamie Muenz set 39 assists, and Hammond had 32 digs. Drew Clemons served 10 points and Makayla Case had nine. Western Reserve (3-2 FC) visits Ashland Crestview (9-4, 3-3) Tuesday in a Firelands Conference match, while Edison (2-1 Bay) hosts Willard (9-3, 2-1) in an SBC Bay match on Thursday. New London 3 Black River 1 NEW LONDON — The Wildcats improved to 7-6 with Monday's four-set non-league win over the Pirates. New London posted scores of 25-20, 15-25, 25-20, and 25-20. Pailee Wilson led the 'Cats with 17 kills and two blocks, while Gracie Thomas had 14 kills. Kelsey Pauley had six kills and Addison Yetter added five. Thomas finished with 20 assists and 14 digs. Ava Ringler had 16 digs and served three aces, and Yetter also had 16 digs. JUNIOR HIGH NMS seventh-grade wins The Norwalk Middle School seventh-grade volleyball team beat Huron in two (25-18, 25-21) Monday night to improve to 9-0. Adelinn Sitterly served seven points with four aces in the first set for Norwalk. Ella Ames, Kara Russ, and Lexi Schmidt led the team in kills. In the second set, timely serving by Kendall Khaledi, Grace Emmons, Ava Iehle-Ball, and Lyza Ringenberg helped secure the win.
