NORWALK — Friday's game between visiting Edison and host Norwalk is the 39th all-time meeting between the two neighboring school districts. The two high schools are separated by seven miles. The first 31 games in the series were in the season opener, which often fell on Milan Melon Festival weekend. The most recent renewal of the series in 2017 has seen the game rotation between weeks 2 and 4. Edison has won the last three games by a combined 97-0 score. It marked the first time in the series there were consecutive shutouts, and the three most recent games are among just seven shutouts for either team in the 38 meetings. Edison leads the series, 22-16. The 40th meeting is set for Sept. 19, 2026 at Contractors Stadium in Norwalk.
