Fall fun is happening

The Village of Plymouth is all about community and family fun, and September and October are jam-packed with activities that will appeal to all ages. Everyone is invited to take part in the many upcoming events: Fire station grand opening This Saturday is the grand opening of Plymouth's beautiful new, state-of-the-art fire station, located on Mary Fate Park Drive. The official coupling ceremony will take place at 11 a.m., followed by an open house to which the public is invited. Jerry Harrington photo exhibit After the open house, everyone is encouraged to stop at the Plymouth Area Museum to enjoy the fantastic photography exhibit by Jerry Harrington. There's lots more to see at the museum and visitors are always surprised at what they find. Hours for the exhibit, which runs through Sept. 20, are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free, but donations are always welcome. Classic Car and Motorcycle Show On Sept. 20, the Plymouth Improvement Committee will host its 11th annual Classic Car and Motorcycle Show from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Plymouth's beautiful Mary Fate Park. Registration begins at 9 a.m. and the show will feature live music, food trucks, a bounce house for the kids, and lots of fabulous vehicles. Dash plaques will go to the first 100 registrants and swag bags will be given to the first 50 vehicles. Trophies and awards will be announced at 3pm. Admission is free to the public. Autumn in the Village The month of October will also provide lots of fun things to do in Plymouth, beginning with "Autumn in the Village" on Sunday, Oct. 12 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. It's Plymouth's annual celebration of all things autumn including music by DJ Hook; 40 market stands; live demonstrations, hayrides and food trucks, all set up on Plymouth's Square. A special Kids-Zone, sponsored by Village Roots and Amanda Garcia of Keller-Williams Realty, will feature face painting, a bounce house, fall crafts and games, and "Tent-or-Treat" stops where vendors will hand out Halloween goodies. Kids are invited to wear their Halloween costumes. As always, admission to the outdoor festival is free. An Oriental Tea The Plymouth Area Museum will also host "An Oriental Tea" on Sunday, Oct. 12 from 2-4 p.m. in the museum's community room. The event includes Oriental finger foods and dainties along with a selection of teas; a short program, a raffle and other activities. Tickets are $18 for adults and $12 for young ladies 8-12 years of age. Seating is limited to 60 guests, and reservations can be made by calling Crystal Scott at 440-724-1948. Nightmare in the Park For Halloween aficionados, The Plymouth Volunteer Firefighter's Association will host its annual "Nightmare in the Park" on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 17-18, in Mary Fate Park. The spooky fun begins at 8 p.m. and runs until midnight on both nights. Boo! On Broadway Finally, the village of Plymouth will host its annual "Boo! On Broadway" event on Saturday, Oct. 25. Merchants will open their doors to little trick or treaters and will pass out candy and goodies from 5 -7 pm on Plymouth's Square. At 7 p.m., kids and grownups are invited to participate in a Halloween Parade and march from the Square to American Legion Post #447 for the annual Halloween Party and Costume Contest which will begin at 7:15 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.
