Western scores home sweep over Mapleton

ORANGE TWP. — The Western Reserve volleyball team improved to 5-3 overall and 3-2 in Firelands Conference action with Tuesday's win over Mapleton. Western Reserve won with scores of 25-22, 25-19, 25-22. Emma Hammond and Drew Clemons each lined 10 kills for the WR. Jamie Muenz tallied 22 assists and 17 digs while Stella Blake served for 15 points. Emma Hammond served 12 points and Makayla Case tallied nine digs. The 'Riders travel to Plymouth on Thursday for another FC match. TENNIS Perrysburg 5, Norwalk 0 NORWALK — The Truckers lost in straight sets at all five spots on Tuesday in a non-conference loss to Division I power Perrysburg. At first and second singles, Lydia Trost and Addy Rospert fell to Penelope Giammarco and Madi Watkins with identical scores of 6-0, 6-0. At third singles, Leksi Jurczek fell to Campbell Looser (6-1, 6-4). The first doubles team of Alyssa Gruhlke and Aubrey Kluding lost to Elli Pesci and Ava Geffe (6-2, 6-3). At second doubles, Chloe Hazelwood and Riley Helton lost to Savannah Boris and Lilith Dunn (6-0, 6-4). In junior varsity play, winners for Norwalk included Roxy Brummit and Abby Upton (6-1); Brooklyn Younce and Vanessa Vazquez (6-4); Grace Knight and Emmie Leber (6-5); Lily McDuffie and Natalie Morales (6-2); and Carsyn Swick and Genevieve Riley (6-2). Also playing for the Truckers included Scarlet Schneider and Libby Lark (3-6); Ella Borgeson and Nellie Ferguson (3-6); Natalie Wiegel and Lily Ware (2-6); Nora Whaley and Valerie Samano (3-6); and Miley Gatschet and Keelie Cammarn (3-6). Central 179 NORWALK — The Truckers edged the host Bucks by two strokes in Tuesday's non-league win at Cranberry Hills golf course. Emytt Graffice paced Norwalk with a 42, and Cohen Shoot had a 43. Luke Metcalf and Caleb Thompson each finished with a 46. Also for the Truckers, Gabriel Ramon had a 47 and Jarrett Scheid added a 49. New London 162, Plymouth 198 SHELBY — The Wildcats bounced back from their first loss of the season on Monday with a convincing win over the Big Red in an FC match played Tuesday at Woody Ridge golf course. For New London (12-1, 7-1), Brody Sword led the team with a 37. Logan Sword and Presley Ferguson each shot 41s, while Kade Detterman had a 43. Grady Heileman (45) and Easton Ball (46) rounded out the lineup. New London will travel to Brookside golf course in Ashland on Thursday to play Mapleton. GIRLS GOLF Danbury 207, St. Paul 227 OAK HARBOR — The Lady Flyers dropped Tuesday's non-league match to the Lakers at Oak Harbor golf course. For St. Paul, Alia Bogard shot a 50, and Aubrey Dilger had a 53. They were followed by Annabelle Cooper (58) and Arielle Kuhlman (66).
