Pop up to 5K for pumpkins

Editor's note: The North Coast Healthcare Collaborative consists of The Bellevue Hospital, Firelands Health, Fisher-Titus Medical Center and Magruder Hospital. These locally owned, independent hospitals have chosen a path of collaboration over competition in order to improve health care in the region and achieve long-term financial stability, according to a joint statement. SANDUSKY — We're back for another year to support and build awareness for breast cancer in our region. The North Coast Healthcare Collaborative has teamed up to raise awareness about breast cancer and support each organization's foundation. According to Ohio.gov, 1 in 8 women in the U.S. who live to be age 85 will develop breast cancer. All proceeds will be equally split to benefit the foundation at each of the North Coast Healthcare Collaborative health systems. Funds will be used for patient support, breakthrough equipment and research to prevent, diagnose and cure breast cancer. Donations are also encouraged from friends and family who will not be participating in the race. Here are the race details: • When: 9 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 4 • Where: Sandusky Bay Pavilion, 605 E. Water St., Sandusky • How: People can visit runsignup.com/race/oh/sandusky/nchcsaveyourpumpkins2022 and/or visit any of the four hospitals' Facebook pages for signup information. — Pre-registration cost totals $23; Race T-shirts are available to those who sign up by Sept. 21. — Day-of-registration cost totals $25 and is cash only • More: People can pick up their packets from 4-6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 3 at Firelands Health's south campus community resource room, 1912 Hayes Ave. (Ohio 4). People can also get it at the pavilion on Saturday right before the race.
