Norwalk, St. Paul compete at Tiffin Carnival

TIFFIN — The Norwalk and St. Paul cross country teams participated in the annual Tiffin Carnival on Saturday at Hedges-Boyer Park. In the Division II girls race, Norwalk was 13th among 27 teams with Saige Konik in 18th overall with a time of 19:26. Olive Leavitt was 37th in 20:18 for the Truckers, while Grace Norris (21:09) was 63rd. Rounding out the lineup was Raelyn Konik (23:21, 124th), Allison Konik (24:44, 161st), Anna Whaley (26:14, 175th) and Allison Rothhaar (28:29, 188th). For the Norwalk boys, Nolan Jones was 99th in 17:59. Other top performers included Jason Cruz Segovia (18:24) in 129th and Caiden Schmidt (18:37) in 145th. Alex Christophel (18:41) was 149th, followed by Casey Kromer (18:47) in 154th and Isaiah Kelsey (18:59) in 163rd. In the Div. III girls race, St. Paul was eighth among 18 teams. The Flyers had four runners finish within 10 spots of each other. Deanna Vazquez (22:43) was 50th, followed by Kate Ware (23:05) in 53rd, Frances Donnelly (23:05) in 54th, and Jenny Schwan (23:18) in 59th. Scarlett Ross was 81st (24:52) and Anna Wright (25:08) was 84th. Charlotte Hosack (27:21) was 104th. For the St. Paul boys, Jacob Collins (20:54) was 105th and Tanner Denman (21:14) was 106th. VOLLEYBALL Edison 3, Bucyrus 0 BUCYRUS — The Chargers (4-4) got back to the .500 mark with Saturday's three-set sweep over the host Lady Red. Edison won with scores of 25-13, 25-20 and 25-14. Peyton Bissell served for 13 points and added 12 assists for Edison. Stella Brown had 12 points and 10 digs while Taylor Moore added 17 digs and seven points. Paige McFadden had 14 assists and five points and Dana Preston contributed eight kills, five digs and five points. Monroeville 3, Seneca East 0 MONROEVILLE — The Eagles improved to 7-2 overall with a three-set win over the visiting Tigers on Saturday inside the Monroeville Athletic Complex. Monroeville posted scores of 25-16, 25-16, and 25-15. Madi Reiber had 14 kills for the Eagles. Ady Adams finished with nine kills and Alexa Adams added eight kills. Addison Homan finished with 19 digs and Addison Lyons had 18 assists, while Kaci Poths set 14 assists. Maddy Miller also had 17 digs for Monroeville, while Rachel Fries and Poths each had seven. Ady Adams also had four service aces for the Eagles, who host St. Paul Tuesday in a matchup of 4-0 teams in the Firelands Conference. BOYS SOCCER Ontario 5, Norwalk 1 NORWALK — The Truckers were unable to keep up with the visiting Warriors Saturday in the second half of the non-league loss at Contractors Stadium. The game was scoreless at halftime, but Norwalk (3-4) allowed five goals in the second half. Elliot Gahring scored for the Truckers off an assist from Corbin Sigg. The Truckers visit Willard Monday. GIRLS SOCCER Edison 4, Mapleton 4 ASHLAND — The Chargers tied with Mapleton in a non-league match Saturday. Kellyn Ritchie led Edison (1-4-1) with two goals while Kailyn Dickman had a goal and an assist. Joy Jordan also scored for the Chargers. Ella Rogers made seven saves in goal for Edison.
