'Painted Word' on display

NEW HAVEN — A local art education program and church are partnering to host a Christian art exhibition next month. The Art Junction and New Haven Methodist Church are presenting "The Painted Word — Images of the Life of Jesus Christ." The exhibit started at the church in August and runs through Sept. 22. People can stop by the church, 2644 Prairie St., from 5-7 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays, or by appointment, to view the artwork. A number of local artists are participating: • Prescott Lillo, of Willard • Alec Casto, of Willard • James Easter, of Toledo • David Wolff, of Collins • Heidi Helgeson Hovestaedt, of Norwalk • Cynde Spyker, of Attica • Kevin Casto, of Willard "This group exhibit seeks to communicate a transformational message through visual expression," a release from the Art Junction states. "The exhibit invites the viewer to examine the life of Jesus and to discover a deeper meaning of the life of Jesus as eight area artists did through their painted expressions."
