Report: Suspect threatened man, woman with gun

SANDUSKY — Two people claimed a Sandusky man pointed a gun at them Thursday.Police charged Robert Klepper, 59, of East Forest Drive, with two counts of misdemeanor aggravated menacing.A man and woman said while on East Forest Drive their vehicle overheated and they stopped the car, according to a Sandusky police report. As the man walked outside the car, the woman asked the man for her phone so she could call her sister.A different man, later identified as Klepper, then allegedly demanded the man give the woman her phone back and allegedly used a racial epithet, the report states. After the man asked Klepper what he said, Klepper allegedly went into his home and emerged with a small, black gun.The man and woman got in the car and fled the area, according to the report.Officers spoke with Klepper, who denied having a gun and police didn't find one when they patted him down, the report states. He also said he had not left his home in several hours.Police detained Klepper and brought the man and woman to the scene, according to the report. They positively identified the man as the one who allegedly threatened them.Police arrested Klepper but could not take him to the Erie County jail because of medical issues, the report states.
