Muenz earns 2,000th assist in win

COLLINS — Western Reserve setter Jamie Muenz earned her 2,000th career assist in Thursday's four-set win over New London in Firelands Conference play. The Roughriders (4-3, 2-2) won, 25-11, 25-19, 24-26 and 25-18 as Muenz finished 96-of-99 with 40 assists. Also for Western, Drew Clemons had 11 kills and Leah Osborne had six. Emma Hammond served 16 points with 20 digs, while Clemons had 19 digs and Stella Blake served 21 points. Western is at Mapleton next Tuesday. St. Paul 3, Plymouth 0 NORWALK — The Flyers cruised past visiting Plymouth for a three-set Firelands Conference win Thursday night. St. Paul (4-1, 4-0) won, 25-9, 25-13, 25-13. Annie Friend served 14-for-15 with five aces and had 21 assists for the Flyers. Ella Kalizewski was also 14-for-15 with four aces and added five kills and six digs. Brooklyn Cassidy and Aubrie Bogard each added four kills, while Lily Cuturic and Kate Stieber each had six digs. Cuturic was also 8-for-8 serving with two aces. St. Paul visits Monroeville on Tuesday in the first of two big conference matches against the Eagles. Monroeville 3, S. Central 0 MONOREVILLE — The Eagles picked up a road FC sweep over South Central Thursday night. The Eagles improved to 6-2 overall and 4-0 in the FC with the win in three, 25-13, 25-16 and 25-23. The Eagles got nine kills from Alexa Adams, and seven each from Gabby Loose, Ady Adams and Madi Reiber. Addison Lyons had 14 assists and Kaci Poths had eight. Addison Homan paced the defense with 25 digs. She was followed by Maddy Miller (17), Poths (11), Rachel Fries (10) and Alexa Adams (10). For South Central, Zaida Myers and Autumn Fry each had eight kills, while Taylor Smith had 27 digs and Claire Howell had 21. Smith was 12-for-13 serving with an ace, and Howell was 9-for-9 with an ace. Monroeville (7-1, 4-0) also won the JV match, 23-25, 25-16 and 25-22. Norwalk 3, Clyde 0 NORWALK — The Truckers (5-3, 2-0) won their second SBC Lake match of the season with a sweep over the host Fliers Thursday night. Norwalk won with scores of 25-17, 25-21 and 25-15. Ainslee King had 11 kills and four blocks in the win. Maddie Gamble had seven kills and Sydney Moehlman added six. Emily also had 25 assists. Also for the Truckers, Lola Schlotterer was 14-for-16 serving with an ace. Sawyer Wineman led the back row with 19 digs and Gamble had 16. Norwalk is at Tiffin Columbian next Thursday. Edison 3, Vermilion 1 MILAN — The Chargers improved to 3-4 overall and 2-0 in the league with Thursday's SBC Bay win over the Sailors. Edison lost the first set, 25-21, then won three straight by scores of 25-22, 25-18 and 25-16. Dana Preston had nine kills and six digs, while Ella Booth had eight kills and eight digs. Taylor Moore finished with 28 digs, and Stella Brown had 19 points, five aces and 15 digs. Also for Edison, Paige McFadden had 10 assists and six points, while Payton Bissell had nine assists and five points. GIRLS GOLF Norwalk second at Shootout CLYDE — The Truckers shot a 196 to finish behind the host Fliers (188) at Thursday's SBC Lake Shootout at Green Hills golf course. Adyson Lepley shot a 46 to pace Norwalk. Both Emerson Ulery and Catherine Beamer had 49s, while Evelyn Welschenbach added a 52. Allison Konik shot a 59 and Chloe Stanford-Jones had a 60. The Truckers will compete in another Lake Shootout Monday in Tiffin. Norwalk then hosts Mansfield Madison Wednesday and a league shootout Thursday at Eagle Creek. Edison wins Bay Shootout PERKINS TWP. — Edison shot a 203 to edge Margaretta (205) in an SBC Bay shootout at Woussickett Golf Course. Edison's Annabelle Seville was medalist with a 38. The Chargers' Leah Sharp was eighth with a 51. BOYS GOLF Norwalk competes in Lake shootout CLYDE — Bellevue shot a 157 to win an SBC Lake shootout at Green Hills on Thursday. Perkins was second with a 162, followed by Columbian (170), Clyde (172) and Norwalk (176). Luke Metcalf paced the Truckers with a 40. He was followed by Cohen Shoop (44), Emytt Graffice (45) and Jett Scheid (47). Caleb Thompson also added a 50. New London 168, Crawford 172 NEW LONDON — The Wildcats edged visiting Colonel Crawford to improve to 11-0 overall after Wednesday's non-league match at Millstone Hills. Brody Sword shot a 37 to pace New London, while Grady Heileman had a 41 and Kade Detterman added a 44. Logan Sword was next with a 47, followed by Presley Ferguson (47) and Olivia Yetter (56). New London will travel to Ashland's Brookside golf course to play Crestview in a key Firelands Conference match Monday. GIRLS SOCCER Bellevue 1, Edison 0 BELLEVUE — Bellevue's Reece Young scored on a header off a corner kick in the first half for the only goal of the match Wednesday. Edison (1-4, 1-2 SBC) got four saves in goal from Ella Rogers in the loss. The Chargers visit Mapleton at 10 a.m. Saturday.
