Monroeville, St. Paul sweep FC matches

MONROEVILLE — The Monroeville volleyball team won a close opening set, then cruised from there in a three-set win over visiting Western Reserve in a Firelands Conference match Thursday night inside the Monroeville Athletic Complex. The Eagles (4-2, 3-0) posted scores of 27-25, 25-19 and 25-12. Madi Reiber had 16 kills for the Eagles, while Ady Adams had nine; Alexa Adams had six; and Haley Moran added five. Addison Lyons finished with 19 assists and Kaci Poths had 14. Also for Monroeville, Addison Homan had 25 digs, while Maddy Miller had 10, followed by Poths and Lyons with nine each. Poths also served six aces. Monroeville (6-0, 3-0) won the junior varsity match, 30-28, 25-16. For Western (3-3, 1-2), Emma Hammond had seven kills and Drew Clemons had six. Makayla Case and Stella Blake each served five points, while Case had 15 digs. Jamie Muenz finished with 21 assists. Monroeville visits Clyde on Tuesday, while the Roughriders host New London next Thursday in another FC match. St. Paul 3, S. Central 0 GREENWICH — The Lady Flyers improved to 3-0 overall and in the FC with a three-set sweep over the host Trojans Thursday night. St. Paul won by scores of 25-14, 25-19 and 25-21. Ella Kalizewski finished with 15 kills, nine blocks and five digs to pace the Flyers. Brooklyn Cassidy had eight kills and four blocks, while Shealyn Deeter added six kills. Kegney Stoll was 20-for-21 serving with 14 points and two aces, while Lily Cuturic added 18 digs and Bella Guerra had eight. Annie Friend also had 30 assists, five digs and five blocks. For South Central (2-3, 1-2), Autumn Fry had 12 kills and two blocks, while Bry Lopez had 12 digs. Keragin Gray had 28 assists, and Taylor Smith had 21 digs. Norwalk 3, Sandusky 0 NORWALK — The Truckers cruised past the Blue Streaks in their SBC Lake opener. Norwalk posted scores of 25-15, 25-6, and 25-8. Emily Tyler finished 14-for-16 serving with two aces and also had 23 assists to pace Norwalk (2-2, 1-0). Reagan Mooney was 15-for-17 serving with two aces, while Sawyer Wineman had 13 digs. Also for Norwalk, Maddie Gamble had seven kills and Ainslee Kind had four. Bella Hernandez added four blocks. Norwalk will host its annual Invitational tournament on Saturday. Edison 3, Margaretta 0 MILAN — The Chargers improved to 2-4 overall and 1-0 in the league with Thursday's SBC Bay win over the visiting Polar Bears. Ella Booth finished with seven kills and six points for the Chargers, while Stella Brown had 11 points, three aces and seven digs. Taylor Moore had 12 digs, while Peyton Bissell had 13 assists and six points, and Paige McFadden had six assists and eight points. Willard 3, Vermilion 1 VERMILION — The Crimson Flashes improved to 5-0 overall and 1-0 in the SBC Bay with Thursday's road win over the Sailors. After losing 27-25, Willard reeled off set wins of 25-21, 25-15 and 25-15. Camryn Wiers had 10 kills, 11 digs and eight assists for Willard. Leah Weiss finished with 10 kills, six digs and served 18-for-18 with an ace, while Natalie Slone had 10 kills, 20 digs and served four aces. Also for the Flashes, Teagan Schaffer was 16-for-18 serving with five aces, six kills, five blocks and eight digs. Emelia Tallman had 15 assists and eight digs, while Alexis Rettig had 14 digs and Mya Stephens had 13 assists. Willard is at the Norwalk Invitational on Saturday. GIRLS GOLF Hopewell 195, Margaretta 214, St. Paul 231 OXFORD TWP. — The Flyers competed with the Polar Bears and Chieftains in a trig-match Thursday at Woussickett golf course. For St. Paul, Ava Englert and Alia Bogard each led the team with a 54. Aubrey Dilger shot a 61 and Annabelle Cooper had a 62.
