Norwalk girls soccer blasts Sandusky

NORWALK — The Norwalk girls soccer team improved to 4-1 overall and 2-0 in the Sandusky Bay Conference with an 8-1 win over visiting Sandusky Wednesday night at Contractors Stadium. Xavi Immel scored the first two goals for the Truckers within the first eight minutes of the match. CJ Bennett followed with a pair of goals just 26 seconds apart to give Norwalk a 4-0 lead less than 10 minutes into the match. Immel added a third goal for the hat trick, followed by Kira Sandor with 17:45 left in the half. Audrey Sanders closed out the first half scoring with a goal for Norwalk. Immel scored her fourth goal of the match with 30:02 left in the match. Ella Andrews had two assists and Immel also had one. "It was nice to get some different kids some playing time and scoring goals for us," Norwalk head coach Michelle Sandor said. "We have gotten some good varsity leadership, so it's good to see some younger players step up." Norwalk is off until next Wednesday when it hosts Vermilion in another SBC match. GIRLS GOLF Seville leads Edison to shootout win HURON — Edison's Annabelle Seville shot a 37 to win medalist honors and lead the Chargers to a team victory in an SBC Bay shootout at Thunderbird Hills South. The Chargers shot a 189. Margaretta was second at 206, followed by Willard (220), Port Clinton (221), Huron (225) and Vermilion (239). Leah Sharp added a 47 for Edison. Averi Wolf (51) and Ella Rogers (54) rounded out the Chargers' scorecard. Willard's Reese Bedingfield tied for second at 43. Perkins 209, St. Paul 228 NORWALK — The Flyers fell to visiting Perkins in a non-league match Tuesday at Eagle Creek golf course. Alia Bogard shot a 54 for St. Paul. Aubrey Dilger added a 56, while Ava Englert had a 57 and Annabelle Cooper shot a 61. St. Paul 222, Port Clinton 245 PORT CLINTON — The Flyers picked up another win Wednesday by defeating the Redskins at the Catawba Island Club. Aubrey Dilger shot a 51 and Alia Bogard had a 52 for St. Paul. Ava Englert (56) and Annabelle Cooper (63) also scored for the Flyers.Edison wins Perkins Invite SANDUSKY — The Chargers shot a 407 to finish ahead of the host Pirates (413) by six strokes to win the Perkins Invitational on Wednesday at Plum Brook Country Club. For Edison, Seville shot a 76 to again se the pace. Sharp had a 101, followed by Rogers (115) and Lilly Davis (115). Wolf (121) rounded out the lineup. Norwalk shot a 427 to place fourth behind Ashland (417). Evelyn Welschenbach paced the Truckers with a 99, followed by Catherine Beamer at 107 and Adyson Lepley with a 109. Emerson Ulery (112) and Allison Konik (130) rounded out the lineup. Norwalk has an SBC Lake shootout next Thursday at Clyde. BOYS GOLF St. Paul 205, Plymouth 210 NORWALK — The Flyers edged the Big Red for an FC win Wednesday at Eagle Creek. Connor Polachek shot a 41 to lead St. Paul, while Mason Beatty had a 45. Tristan Schlachter added a 56, followed by Jacob Penwell (63) and Everett Beal (63). Willard edges Vermilion again HURON — The Crimson Flashes and Sailors continued their close, back-and-forth play, in SBC Bay shootout action Wednesday at Thunderbird South. This time, Willard totaled a 154 to Vermilion's 156. Margaretta (162), Huron (171), Edison (181) and Port Clinton (203) rounded out the field. Adler Ames led the Flashes with a 36, while Isaac Frye had a 38 and Mason Dawson added a 39. Harrison Meisner (41), Kaleb Weaver (42) and Jaxson Hall (44) rounded out the Willard lineup. For host Edison, Hayden Lewis shot a 41 and Weston Gfell and Owen Price each shot 45s. Mason Hermes (50), Tyler Pounds (54) and Brooks Ballah (55) rounded on the lineup for the Chargers.
