Willard hosts Early Bird Invitational

WILLARD — The Willard High School cross country program hosted its Early Bird Invitational on Aug. 20 at Willard City Park. Among the participating teams with the host Crimson Flashes included Buckeye Central, Monroeville, Old Fort, Sandusky and South Central. In the boys race, Old Fort's Cale Hull was the overall race winner in 18:26.3. For host Willard, Dream Mills was fifth overall in 19:26.05. Lucas Winans (21:28.38) was 15th; Ethan Adams (21:31.67) was 16th; Riley Branham (22:01.59) was 19th; and Ricky Branham (23:23.31) was 25th. South Central's Izaak Ross (20:47.41) finished in 13th, followed by teammates Juan Larios Chavez (22:43.25) in 22nd and Hudson McMillin (23:16.15) in 24th. In the girls race, Grace Tackett from Old Fort won in 20:51.31. Monroeville's Kenley Schafer (22:24.27) was second place behind Tackett. For host Willard, Kelly Hernandez Rojas (23:13.99) was fourth overall. She was followed by Kaylee Tenore (23:44) was sixth; Helen Acosta Cerda (23:51.6) was seventh; and Audrey Yonley (24:22.14) was eighth. Rounding out the top seven for the Flashes was Ava Deel (24:52.64) in 11th; Ilina Detterman (25:29.71) in 13th; and Emma Goodsite (25:57.42) in 16th. South Central's Jayna Smith (25:42.26) was 14th and Ady Stevens (25:42.61) was 15th. Also for the Trojans, Bryanna Lopez (27:17.21) was 24th and Aliya Lopez (27:39.75) was 26th. Monroeville's Abecka Ruggles (27:21.71) was 25th for the Eagles.
