Area teams open at Seneca East Classic

ATTICA — Several area cross country programs started the season Saturday at the annual Seneca East Tiger Classic in Attica. In the Black Division races, the Norwalk boys finished in fifth place with 134 points. Nolan Jones paced the Truckers with a time of 18:52, while teammate Clay Heyman was just off his pace at 18:52.7 to place 32nd and 33rd, respectively. Also for Norwalk, Jason Cruz Segovia (19:25.9) was 49th, followed by Isaiah Kelsey (19:35.2, 51st), Casey Kromer (19:44.8, 55th), Alex Christophel (19:58.4, 62nd), and Anthony Hall (20:07.8, 66th). For the NHS girls, Saige Konik placed second overall in 19:43.76. Grace Norris was 27th in 23:18.8, followed by Raelyn Konik (24:36.6) in 45th and Anna Whaley (26:37) in 65th. Edison competed in the Orange Division races, with both the boys and girls teams placing fourth. Kellen McDonnell led the boys with a 20th place time of 18:00.6. Mason Leber (18:26.7) was 27th and Caleb Jeremay (18:31) was 27th. Also for the Chargers, Colin Butler (19:37) was 36th, Logan Facemire (19:39) was 38th, Noah Schoenherr (20:25.5) was 47th and Liam Chase (20:26.2) was 48th. Claire Michaelis placed 13th in 21:51.5 and Lily Risner (22:07.7) was 14th for the Edison girls. They were followed by Aili Corfman (23:35.1) in 23rd; Ava Gardner (24:00) in 27th; Natalie Schock (26:21) in 37th; and Autumn Krieg-Moore (27:19.5) and Lyla Palmer (28:21) in 46th and 49th, respectively. Several Firelands Conference teams competed in the White Division races. The New London boys finished fifth in the team standings as Carter Hicks placed third overall in 16:41.82. Ryan Twining (18:11.9) was 16th for the Wildcats, followed by Jaxson Schaffer (20:02.2) in 50th; Kaden McMaster (20:14.7) in 54th; and Trace Landis (20:26.2) in 62nd. The NL girls took fourth as a team, with Valery Henry (21:02) placing seventh and Hailey Crockett (21:16.8) finishing ninth overall. Lydia Geist (24:16.6) was 41st and Paiton Shepherd (26:13) was 63rd. The St. Paul girls finished third as a team. Kate Ware was the top runner for the Flyers in 22:34.4, while Jenny Schwan (23:00.7) was 20th and Deanna Vazquez (23:02.9) was 21st. Scarlett Ross (24:20.7) was 42nd and Frances Donnelly (24:55) was 47th. Jacob Collins (20:38.6) was 68th and Tanner Denman (22:06.3) was 95th for the Flyer boys. For Plymouth, Morgan Follett was fifth overall in 20:29.5 and Audrey Smith (23:42) was 32nd. Carter Jester (20:35.6) was 67th for the Big Red. South Central's Jayna Smith (26:24) was 66th and Ady Stevens (26:24) was 67th. Adelynn Smith (27:59.9) was 80th, and Bryanna Lopez (29:22.7) was 87th. Juan Larios Chavez was 85th in 21:21.86 for the S.C. boys. For Monroeville, Kenley Schafer (21:49.98) was 13th and Abecka Ruggles (27:22.9) was 73rd. In the boys race, Landon Grosswiler was 107th in 22:58 and Paul DeMarco was 115th in 23:59.6.
