Truckers, reunite

NORWALK — Anyone with a connection to Norwalk Schools is invited to an "all-years class reunion" later this month. Hosted annually on the third Sunday in August since 2006, the Norwalk Public School Alumni Association puts on a reunion for all past students, faculty, staff and those affiliated with Norwalk Schools. This year, the event will be from 1-4 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 17 in the gymnasium at Norwalk High School. The event is put on by volunteer members of the Norwalk Public School Alumni Association as a way to honor and remember time spent in the Norwalk school system, according to member Francesca Lendrum. "We hold this reunion for everyone who was a part of Norwalk Schools, even if you only attended for a day, or graduated from here," Lendrum said. "Even if the school you went to is gone, you are invited to attend." According to Lendrum, the Norwalk High School Band will be performing during the event, light refreshments and snacks will be served. In years past, the event has honored a specific school, sport or graduation year. This year, the party will not have a theme. "This year we will just have our regular archives stuff to display, but we are looking at a theme for next year," Lendrum said. The event has brought in about 100-200 attendees annually on average, a number Lendrum expects to match this year. Lendrum, a 1977 Norwalk graduate, is asking anyone interested in volunteering to contact the alumni association. "Some of us volunteers are getting a bit older and we really could use some more volunteers to make sure this tradition continues," she said. "It really is great fun."
