Local realtor donates to school's roof project

Norwalk Catholic Schools recently received a significant donation toward its project for a new roof at one of its buildings. In mid-May, the school announced a fundraiser to repair the roof at the Early Childhood Center, located at 77 State St., which is for students in pre-school and kindergarten along with the before- and after-care Flyer Clubhouse. The Frank Van Dresser Team ReMax Quality Realty recently took part in the nationwide "Change the Planet Week Challenge." It was part of their annual business coaching conference that empowers participants to make an impact in their communities while enhancing leadership skills. The challenge brought together over 200 businesses from across the country, but only eight teams were selected to receive $5,000 each to donate to a nonprofit of their choice. After participating in the challenge, the Van Dresser team was chosen as one of the eight winners. Following thoughtful consideration of the various organizations they actively support, Frank and his team chose to donate the $5,000 to the district's roof project. The decision was driven by the critical and urgent need for repairs to the school building's roof. "We're grateful to have been part of this national movement that not only challenged us professionally, but gave us a meaningful way to give back," Van Dresser said. "Choosing Norwalk Catholic's (Early Childhood Center) roof project was an easy decision once we understood the immediate need and the long-term impact it would have on local families." As of May 23, the school had raised $12,830 toward a $20,000 matching donation. The total cost of the roof project is going to cost close to $300,000.
