Vandals sought

NORWALK — Norwalk police are looking for help in identifying the individuals who vandalized a shelter at the Nature Trail Land Lab Tuesday night. The Huron County Park District owns and manages the park — off South Norwalk Road West. According to photos provided by the park district, someone appeared to spray paint the structure as well as a picnic table inside. District staff lamented the destruction of public property. "It breaks our hearts to see the senseless act of vandalism that occurred at the Land Lab park overnight. Spray paint has defaced an area meant for community enjoyment, and this affects all of us," the park district posted online. As Thursday afternoon, there have been no arrests and police are continuing the investigation. "We have had a couple tips and looked at what was written on there, we have spoken to some people and the investigation is ongoing," Norwalk police Chief Scott Dahlgren said. In addition to the police, the plea for help in identifying the individual is echoed by the park district. "We're reaching out to the people of Norwalk — if you have any information at all about who might be responsible, please reach out to the park district or Norwalk Police Department," the post states. "Every tip helps us maintain the quality and beauty of our public spaces. Thank you for your support." Police are also asking residents for any information on who vandalized the structure, and to call the department with tips. The police department's non-emergency number is 419-663-6780.
