Summer activities planned

NORWALK — Chalk up another gem in the crown of fun summer activities in Norwalk this summer. The Huron County Park District will be hosting "Summerfest" on Saturday, July 26 at Shady Lane Memorial Park, on Shady Lane Drive in Norwalk. The event is free for everyone and includes food trucks, local vendors and musical performances by Gary Meadows and Michael Blody, according to a news release. The park district is hosting more events this summer, too. All occur at Shady Lane Memorial Park unless otherwise noted: • On July 19, Aug. 2, Aug. 16, Aug. 30 and Sept. 20 the district will host Market in the Park • "Mommy and Me fitness and cardio" will be hosted on July 23, July 30 and Aug. 6 • "Moving Meditations" will be hosted on Aug. 23, when the district will host Haven Hypnosis for Saturday morning meditations. There will be "45 minutes of light/somatic movement to release tension, alleviate stress, and bring energy into practice," according to a news release. Participants should bring a yoga mat or blanket and dress comfortably. Optional items to bring include a journal, bug spray, and water to drink. Sessions will not always be seated. All abilities are welcome. • There is also a "Land Lab: Stream Program" happening on Aug. 16 at the Nature Trail Land Lab at 582 South Norwalk Road. The Land Lab features a circular trail that is handicapped accessible with a combination of hard-surfaced path and a 250-foot boardwalk, according to the park district. Additional paths to a nearby stream and quarry pond make up the complex. The area also features a shelter that seats approximately 50 in addition to fire rings. The Huron County Park District was created to preserve and promote natural resources while also providing recreational and educational use of these resources in Huron County.
