Class of 1951 reunites

Seven members of the remaining 13 classmates and five guests gathered June 21, 2025, in Berry's on Main, Norawlk, for food and fellowship. A white tablecloth, royal blue napkins, white candles circled the wreaths of greenery, white flowers and light blue ribbons highlighted the class colors of light blue and white. Laminated placemats with pictures of our freshman initiation in 1947 marked the theme. A table display of the "Welcome 1951 Graduates" poster in blue and white, laminated picture of classmates passed, a bud vase of three yellow roses, Baccalaureate and Commencement programs, graduation tassels, obituary book and candles in holders of brass with clear chimneys set the scene. Gayleen Geer greeted the 12 in attendance, giving programs to the seven classmates. Krystal Kelley of New London snapped the group picture, which consisted of Dorothy LINDENAU Henes, Donna SCHAECHTERLE Tyson, Jean GEER Richards, Gayleen McCOY Geer, Donald KNIGHT, Jack CHURCHILL and Phillip BRUTSCHE. Donna Tyson gave the opening and closing blessings. Jean Richards offered the welcome, recognition, correspondence, a nostalgic poem and quips on aging. Don Knight read the verse on the obituary book, after which a period of silence was observed for the 65 passed, two of which passed this year. The distance traveler was again Phil, coming from Franklin, Indiana. Because of personal reasons, Ted Lang of Norwalk regretfully declined. Our yearly reunions will continue, as well as meeting once a month in Norwalk for food and fellowship.
