Heat wave coming next week

Starting Sunday, the north-central Ohio area could be in for some hot days. A heat wave is supposed to hit the area beginning Sunday and continuing through as far as next Thursday, according to the National Weather Service. It could be especially rough for area residents. "Very high levels of humidity will likely make the 1st heat wave of 2025 feel worse than normal. That is because we are not used to the heat or humidity yet. We have had very little of each so far this season," 13abc meteorologist Ross Ellet posted online. "Highs are expected to reach the middle 90s next Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. The heat index is expected to reach the 100 to 105 degree range as well." The weather service gave some safety advice for residents ahead of the heat wave: • Make a plan for power outages • Check to that home air conditioners and fans are in working order • Gather food, water and medication • Stay in air conditioning and out of the sun as much as possible • Consider rescheduling outdoor events • Drink plenty of water • Check on pets, friends, family and neighbors
