Norwalk girls third at Edison Invite

MILAN — The Norwalk girls track and field team led area programs by placing third out of 10 teams at the Edison Invitational on Saturday. The Truckers scored 89 points to finish behind champion Huron (118.5) and runners-up Lexington (115). Rounding out the field was Margaretta (80), Vermilion (50), Western Reserve (38), Old Fort (33), Edison (27.5), St. Paul (21) and Fremont St. Joseph (13). Grace Norris won the 200-meter dash in 26.6 seconds, and won the 400 dash in 59.34 seconds for the Truckers. Norris was also the anchor for the first-place 4x400 relay that included Shyla Gruhlke, Xavi Immel, Mac Wineman with a time of 4:09.91. The 4x800 distance relay team of Xavi Immel, Saige Konik Gruhlke and Zuri Immel also won with a time of 10:20.98. Placing second for the Trucker girls included Kinleigh Lesch in the discus (109-feet-7 inches) and Adyson Lepley in the pole vault (9-feet-6). Kenadee Lesch was third in the discus (104-feet-8) and Lilly Lark was fourth in the shot put (30-feet-6.75). Also placing fourth was Xavi Immel in the 800 (2:32.27) and the 4x100 relay team with a time of 54.21 seconds. For Western, Kara Woodruff was second in the 900 (2:27.99), as was Emma Hammond in the shot put (31-feet-8). Host Edison was paced by Zoey Corfman, who was fourth place in both the 100 (13.49) and 400 (1:01.66). Also for the Charger girls, the 4x800 relay took fourth in 11:06.37. 4x800 relay 4th in 11:06.37 Vermilion (122) won the boys team title with Huron finishing second (95.5) and Margaretta (84) in third. Norwalk was also the highest-placing boys team in fourth at 55.5 points, just a half-point ahead of host Edison (55). Rounding out the field was Lexington (51), Old Fort (46), Western (44), Fremont SJCC (26) and St. Paul (9). Dylan Eggleston won the 110 hurdles in 16.36 seconds and the 300 hurdles in 43.97 seconds for Norwalk. Gavin Lepley won the 100 dash in 11.72 seconds and Sam Konik won the shot put (48-feet-2.5). For host Edison, Jackson Michaelis placed second in both the 800 (1:06.64) and the 1600 (4:38.85). Trevor Leimeister was third in the 100 (11.76) and fourth in the 200 (23.72). Placing fourth for Edison was Kellen McDonnell in the 3200 (10:41.72) and the 4x800 relay (8:49.1). All-Ohioan Hayden Keith again dominated the throwing events for Western Reserve. He won both the discus (146-feet-8) and the shot put (50-feet-3) for the Roughriders. Also for Western, Travis French was third in the shot put (46-feet-1) and fourth in the discus (129-feet-6). St. Paul's top finisher on the boys side was Fletcher Ross in the 400 (55.63) in sixth place, which is also where the 4x400-meter relay finished in 3:51.52. Two St. Paul girls relay teams finished in fifth. The 4x200 had a time of 1:53.92 and the 4x400 finished in 4:27.88. Individually, Kate Ware was sixth in the 3200 in 12:51.24.
