Columbian rallies past Norwalk for Lake win

TIFFIN — The Norwalk softball team lost a heartbreaker Wednesday in an SBC Lake Division game at Tiffin Columbian. Trailing 2-0 through the middle of the sixth inning, the Tornadoes scored twice in the bottom of the frame to tie it, then won it on a two-out, walk-off infield hit for a 3-2 win. Norwalk fell to 4-8 overall and 1-2 in the SBC Lake. Mya Prochnow finished 3 for 4 with a solo home run and an RBI, while Sage Viock doubled for the other base hit for Norwalk. Viock went four innings in the circle and did not allow a hit or a run. She struck out four and walked four. Kenadee Lesch went the final 2 2/3 innings and allowed three runs (one earned) on five hits with three strikeouts and one walk. Norwalk heads to Perkins for another league game Thursday, then hosts Firelands Friday and entertains Western Reserve in a doubleheader Saturday. For Willard (2-10, 1-2), Natalie Slone was 3 for 3 with a triple and a home run while driving in a run and scoring three times. Emma Steinmetz doubled and drove in two, while Lauren Hamons was 2 for 2 with an RBI. Willard is at Plymouth Friday and gets back into league play Monday at Port Clinton.
