South Central rallies past Crestview again

GREENWICH — The South Central baseball team continued its comeback ways against Crestview in a Firelands Conference game Tuesday. One day after erasing a 7-2 deficit, the Trojans trailed 5-2 after three innings, then scored twice in the bottom of the seventh to force extras, where they scored again in the eighth for a 8-7 win over the Cougars. For South Central (4-5, 3-1), Aaron Hauler was 3 for 4 with a home run and three RBIs. He also went all eight innings on the mound for the win. He struck out 13 and walked five, and allowed seven earned runs on 17 hits. Also for the Trojans, Troy Ayers was 3 for 4 and scored twice, while Wes June was 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI. Trevor Hudson also singled with a pair of Rbis, and Cole Frankhart added two hits. South Central won the game in the eighth when Ayers singled and scored on a sacrifice fly hit by Alex Hamons. The Trojans wrap up the week with three non-league games. They visit Buckeye Central Thursday and have a doubleheader Saturday at Galion Northmor. Crestview 113 001 10 — 7 17 4 S. Monroeville (5-3, 2-2) got a 4 for 4 effort with four RBIs and two runs scored from Landin Hershiser in the win. Ethan Smiley was 3 for 5 and scored three times, while Alex Dowell was 2 for 4 with two RBIs and Tristan Wise was 2 for 3 with three Rbis. Erickson Pisano went all seven innings for the win. He allowed nine runs on eight hits with five strikeouts. For Plymouth (4-4, 2-2), Lex Grose was 2 for 3 with a home run and four RBIs. Keegan Beverly and Lincoln Distl each two hits and scored twice, while Bowman hit a home run with two RBIs. Monroeville is at Bucyrus for a non-league game Thursday, then heads to Woodmore on Saturday. Plymouth heads to Lucas Thursday and visits Kidron Central Christian Saturday. Reserve 13, St. Paul 10 COLLINS — The Roughriders trailed 9-0 in the middle of the fourth inning, but scored nine runs in the bottom of the fifth, then scored four more unanswered runs in the bottom of the sixth to top the Flyers on Tuesday. For Western (3-3, 2-2), Cooper Roe was 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs and Blake Welch was 2 for 4 with a double and one RBI. Connor Harmeling was also 2 for 4 with an RBI and Nolan Ryan was 2 for 3 and scored twice. Ryan allowed an unearned run on two hits with six strikeouts and two walks over the final three innings to earn the win. For St. Paul (5-4, 3-1), Gavin Thurston was 3 for 4 with two RBIs and Isaac Kalizewski was 2 for 4 with two RBIs. Landon Fries singled with three RBIs, while Izaac Snyder singled and drove in one. "We did a nice job of executing our game plan for the first four innings, but a little bit of everything went wrong for us in the fifth and they took advantage by stringing together some hits," St. Paul head coach Aaron Fries said.
