Norwalk tennis claims Lake road win

PERKINS TWP. — The Norwalk boys tennis team swept the doubles matches and got a win from Eli Kluding at second singles to top Perkins, 3-2, in an SBC Lake Division match Friday. For Norwalk (3-2, 2-2), the first doubles team of Edward Ramos Cruz and Roman Snyder beat Ben Smith and Devin Peiffer (7-5, 6-3). At second doubles, Levi Dickerson and Jack Pettinger topped Cameron Frisch and Jaden Lyons (7-6 (4), 6-4). Kluding beat Aaron Benkirane (6-2, 6-0) at second singles. The first singls match saw Jeremiah McCreary fall to Chase Young (6-1, 6-1). At third singles, Preston Miller beat Norwalk's Evan Minor (4-6, 7-6 (5), 10-7). BASEBALL Edison 4, Margaretta 1 CASTALIA — The state-ranked Div. V No. 2 Chargers got a two-run home run from Bryson Wittmer in the top of the seventh for insurance runs in Friday's Sandusky Bay Conference Bay Division win over the Polar Bears at Lions Park. Abe Hermes threw a complete-game for Edison (7-0, 2-0 SBC Bay). He allowed one earned run on four hits with 13 strikeouts and five walks. Davin Wendt had a pair of doubles for the Chargers. Edison (7-3, 3-0 SBC Bay) was again led at the plate by Peyton Taylor. She was 3-for-4 with a double, home run and drove in eight of the 22 runs. Stella Brown also had three hits, including a double, and three RBI. Peyton Bissell was a third Chargers with three hits and she also drove in four. Abby Cloud was 2-for-4 with three RBI and got the win in the circle. She allowed one earned run on five hits with seven strikeouts and four walks. Mya Stiefel led the Fliers (10-2, 2-0 SBC Lake) with three hits while Ariah Farrar had a triple and a single. Vanessa West (triple), Ella Howey and Taitum Jeffrey each chipped in two hits for Clyde. Jeffrey allowed just one hit in the circle for the win for the Fliers. She struck out two. CJ Bennett had a double for Norwalk (4-7, 1-1), which was its lone hit.
