South Central bounces back to top Plymouth

GREENWICH — The South Central baseball team bounced back from Monday's loss to earn a Firelands Conference split with rival Plymouth with Wednesday's 9-2 win over the Big Red. Wes June was strong on the mound for the Trojans (2-3, 1-1). He went the distance and allowed one earned run on six hits with six strikeouts and no walks. Offensively for South Central, Alex Hamons doubled with two RBIs and Bryan Chaffee singled with a pair of RBIs. Aaron Hauler had two hits, two RBIs and scored twice, while June and Troy Ayers also had a pair of hits. For Plymouth (3-2, 1-1), Jarrett Burrer had a single and a double with an RBI. Keegan Beverly and Lincoln Distl each singled and scored. Distl took the loss. He allowed nine runs (three earned) on nine hits with four strikeouts and three walks in six innings. Also for Edison, Abe Hermes doubled with an RBI, and Eli Hermes and Devin Wendt each singled with an RBI. The Chargers (6-0) visit Norwalk (3-2) Thursday for another non-league game.
