Western's season ends at Buckeye Central

NEW WASHINGTON — The Western Reserve girls basketball team trailed by two points after one quarter, but couldn't keep up with host Buckeye Central from there in a Division VI sectional semifinal loss Tuesday night. Buckeye Central (10-13) — the No. 7 seed in the district — proceeded to outscore the Roughriders 30-14 over the final three quarters to advance to Saturday's 2 p.m. sectional title game for a third meeting against No. 2 Colonel Crawford (19-2). The Roughriders finish the season with a 6-15 record. BOYS BASKETBALL Edison 60, New London 47 NEW LONDON — The Chargers got 24 points from Cole Leimeister as they steadily outscored the host Wildcats in Tuesday's non-league win. Edison led 16-13 after one quarter and 33-28 at halftime. It extended its lead with a 12-6 third quarter to lead 45-34. Also for the Chargers, Davin Wendt scored 14 and Coltyn Meagrow added 12 points. New London (2-18) got 17 points from Aiden Ruggles in the loss. Jaxson Schaffer scored 13 and Grady Heileman added 10. Willard (6-13) trailed by five after one quarter and 36-29 at halftime. The Crimson Flashes outscored Bellevue (14-6) by a 32-31 margin in the second half. Jaxson Hall scored a game-high 29 points for Willard, while Kellen Cooper made five 3s for 15 points.
