New London wins 10th straight

COLLINS — The New London girls basketball team moved within three games of clinching at least a share of their second straight Firelands Conference title with a 45-13 win over host Western Reserve Friday night. New London (12-3, 9-0) has won 10 straight games after a 1-3 start. The 'Cats are slated to face Crestview on Monday in a rescheduled game. Pailee Wilson led a balanced attack with 11 points for the Wildcats. Olivia Yetter added 10 points and Gracie Thomas scored nine. The 'Cats also held the 'Riders scoreless in both the second and third quarters in the win. For Western, which fell to 3-11 overall and 2-7 in the FC with the loss, Layken Barnhart had five points. Tied at 29 through three quarters, St. Paul outscored South Central by a 23-11 margin in the fourth quarter. South Central had claimed a 28-23 win in the first meeting Dec. 12. Annie Friend made a pair of 3s in the fourth quarter and scored a team-high 15 points for St. Paul (2-13, 1-7). Morgan Endsley added 14 points, followed by Jenny Schwan with 10 and Aubrie Bogard with nine. South Central (1-14, 1-9) got 12 points from Ember Philips in the defeat. ST.
