Willard 'Distinguished W' alumni inductees announced

WILLARD — Willard City Schools recently announced its Distinguished W alumni inductees, who will be recognized on Jan. 25. To honor and recognize notable Willard graduates, the Willard student council, FFA and Teen Leadership Corps partnered with Willard City Schools to create the Distinguished W Alumni Award, established in 2018. Willard City Schools has helped produce civic and professional frontrunners in education, medicine, science, law, business, military, entertainment, art, literature and music. These former students have had a global impact, and its teachers have inspired many to follow in their footsteps. Nominees must meet certain requirements, which include being a graduate of WHS, having been out of high school for 10 years, and making an impact in his/her community. In addition, former Willard City Schools teachers are also eligible for nominations and do not have to be graduates of WHS. Class of 2024 Distinguished W Inductees are: Brenda Sue Heimann, Marcia Humpal, John Garlough and Dr. David Jump. Distinguished W Award winners will be inducted at 2:30 p.m. on Jan. 25 in the high school auditeria, where the community is invited to come to celebrate these distinguished Flashes alumni. In addition, the inductees will be recognized at halftime of the Flashes' boys basketball game that evening against Huron. All are invited to help celebrate the distinguished Flashes and their accomplishments. Nominees are selected by a committee that consists of WHS alumni, teachers, staff and student representatives from Student Council and Teen Leadership. Nomination forms can be found on the Willard City Schools website or in the Willard High School office. Deadline for the Class of 2025 nominations is Sept. 1, 2025.
