NL, Plymouth girls win FC games

NEW LONDON — Another strong outing at the defensive end led to the New London girls basketball team staying alone atop the Firelands Conference after Thursday's 51-11 win over visiting Ashland Crestview. The Wildcats (9-3, 6-0) led 20-0 after one quarter and it was a formality from there. New London has allowed just 103 points — a 17.2 average — in its six FC games to date. In Thursday's win, Gracie Thomas scored 10 points, followed by Olivia Yetter with 11 and Pailee Wilson with 10. Up next for the 'Cats is a key FC game at second-place Mapleton (11-1, 6-1) on Tuesday. Central 16 GREENWICH — The Big Red won their fourth straight game to improve to 5-7 overall and 4-4 in the FC following a victory over the visiting Trojans. South Central fell to 1-11 overall and 1-7 in the FC with the loss. BOYS BASKETBALL Crestview 75, Western Reserve 50 COLLINS — The Roughriders fell to 2-7 overall and 2-4 in the FC after a 25-point loss to the first-place Cougars Thursday night. Chase Hipp led Western with 12 points and three steals, while Hayden Keith had eight points, seven rebounds, three assists and three steals. Cooper Roe added six points. It gets no easier for the 'Riders when they visit Huron (7-3) on Saturday. Crestview, which was coming off an upset loss at Marengo Highland, improved to 9-1 overall and 6-0 in the FC.
