Norwalk swimmers open season

The Norwalk High School swimming teams have competed in three meets to open the 2024 season. On Nov. 26, the Truckers opened the season against Copley and host North Ridgeville at Valley Forge High School. Zuri Immel was the highest-placing finisher at the meet for the NHS girls. She was second in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:40.83. The 200 medley relay of Natialie Dailey, Zuri Immel, Kylah Daniels and Riley Ebner placed fourth in 2:43.98. The 400 free relay of Amara Rodriguez, Leilah Barrick, Dailey and Raena Ringenberg placed third in 5:47.7. Ringenberg was third in the 200 freestyle and fourth in the 400. For the boys, the 400 free relay of Eli Loudy, Canyon Craig, Raymond McCreary and Lincoln Snyder took second (5:03.74), while the team of McCreary, Craig, Jake Bissell and Snyder were third in the 200 free relay (2:05.92). McCreary was third in the 200 IM (3:19.98), as was Snyder in the 100 butterfly (1:14.26). Loudy was fourth in the 200 free (2:36.54). On Dec. 5, the Truckers hosted Mansfield Madison and Tiffin Columbian at the Ernsthausen Aquatic Center. The boys beat Columbian and lost to the Rams by a single point, whiel the girls fell to both teams. McCreary won the 100 free (1:03.48) and Loudy did the same in the 500 free (6:28.17), while Anthony Hall won the 100 breaststroke (1:22.77). McCearly was also second in the 50 free (27.06). In relays, the 200 medley of Jack Clark, Hall, Snyder and Braydan Weinert took second (2:10.6). Also taking second was the 200 and 400 free relays of McCearly, Vince Dolce, Loudy and Snyder. Dolce was fourth (29.84) in the 50 free and Craig was fifth (29.94). Taking second for the girls was the relay of Immel, Daniels, Dailey and Rodriguez in the 200 free (2:09.2). The 400 free relay of Rodriguez, Dailey, Leilah Carrick and Ringenberg was third (5:04.58). Placing third was Ringenberg in the 200 free (2:37.49); Dailey in the 200 backstroke (1:23.3) and Immel in the 100 breaststroke (1:26.34). Rodriguez and Daniels were third and fourth in the 100 butterfly in 1:24.41 and 1:25.7, respectively. On Saturday (Dec. 7), the Truckers competed at the Mansfield Friendly House Invitational. Both teams placed eighth in the team standings. Placing seventh for Norwalk was the 400 free relay of Rodriguez, Barrick, Dailey and Ringenberg with a time of 5:01.24. The team of Dailey, Immel, Daniels and Ringenberg took eighth in the 200 medley (2:24.8) and the 200 free (2:03.88). Ringenberg was eighth in the 500 free (7:17.62), as was Rodriguez in the 100 butterfly (1:21.79). Daniels was 10th in the 100 butterfly (1:24.44) and Immel was 10th in the 100 breaststroke (1:25.32). On the boys side, Snyder was sixth in the 100 butterfly (1:05.27), as was Loudy in the 500 free (6:35.47). Loudy was also 10th in the 200 free (2:20.2), while Jake Bissell was ninth in the 100 backstroke (1:11.83). Placing sixth was the 200 and 400 free relays of McCreary, Dolce, Loudy and Snyder in 1:51.38 and 4:10.22. The team of Bissell, Hall, Snyder and Weinert were eighth in the 200 medley (2:06.33). 8th place finish in the 200 yard medley relay swam by the team of Jake Bissell, Anthony Hall, Lincoln Snyder and Brayden Weinert (2:06.33) Norwalk is at Shelby in a dual meet at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
