Lives lost in fire honored

WAKEMAN — A spaghetti dinner fundraiser is honoring two lives lost in a house fire earlier this month. The Oct. 5 fire claimed the lives of 43-year-old Cindi Jackson and her 12-year-old daughter, Zoey Senghas. Jackson's son Brady, 7, and the children's father Nick Senghas survived the fire. "Cindi was a super mom, who dedicated her entire life to her three children," fundraiser organizers said. "She was a mother, teacher, friend and sister, who did what any parent would do in a tragedy." Organizers said Jackson stayed with her daughter, who was diagnosed with Angelman Syndrome, a genetic condition that causes developmental and speech delays, along with seizures. "Zoey was the definition of light in a dark room," organizers said. Brady was able to escape the fire by climbing through their bathroom window and calling 911. The spaghetti fundraiser will help raise money for Nathan, Jackson's oldest child, Brady and the Angelman Syndrome Foundation. Raffle baskets can be made in donation and dropped off at the Wakeman Eagles before Nov. 6. Check donations can also be made payable to the Angelman Syndrome Foundation and cash can be deposited at the Wakeman Eagles. The dinner will be hosted at the Wakeman Eagles, 35 E. Main St., on Nov. 9 for $10 per plate, which includes spaghetti with red sauce or meat sauce, garlic bread and a side salad. It is available for dine in or carry out.
