Norwalk puts three on SBC first team

The Norwalk boys soccer team three players selected to the All-Sandusky Bay Conference first team, the league announced on Oct. 22. Senior defender Mason Gamble (three goals, two assists), senior midfielder Juan Martinez (three goals, five assists) and senior attacker Ben Snyder (11 goals) represented the Truckers on the first team. Norwalk took a 12-4-2 overall record into Tuesday's Division III district semifinal against Mansfield Madison. The Truckers went 7-1-1 in league play to finish in second place behind SBC champion Perkins, which took on Lexington in the second district semifinal on Tuesday in Norwalk. The Truckers also had four players selected to the second team, including senior goalkeeper Jose Negrete (52 saves). Senior defender Zade Oglesby (two goals, one assist); junior midfielder Landon Ferkel (eight goals, four assists); and junior attacker Elliot Gahring (10 goals, four assists) were the other second team choices. Edison (12-6, 6-3) also had three players selected to the first team. Juniors Alex Davidson (midfielder) and Jose Serna Amaya (attacker) along with sophomore defender Trevor Leimeister were on the first team for the Chargers. Davidson had 25 goals and 13 assists, while Serna Amaya had 24 goals and five assists. Junior midfielder Kellen McDonnell and sophomore defender Gannon Chartrant were honorable mention for the Chargers.
