Norwalk sweeps Sandusky in Lake win

NORWALK — The state-ranked Norwalk volleyball team had no trouble with visiting Sandusky in an SBC Lake Division sweep Tuesday night at NHS. Norwalk — ranked No. 8 in this week's Division III state coaches poll — improved to 16-1 overall and 7-0 in the Lake ahead of Thursday's road match at Clyde. The Truckers posted scores of 25-6, 25-20 and 25-6. In Tuesday's win, Lucy Schlotterer finished with 12 kills and was 10 for 12 serving with two aces and eight digs. Emily Tyler had 25 assists and 10 digs, while Mac Wineman led the defense with 17 digs. Also for Norwalk, Maddie Gamble had four kills and six digs, and Sawyer Wineman also added six digs. St. Paul 3, South Central 1 GREENWICH — The Lady Flyers dropped the first set, 25-22, before recovering to win the next three over the host Trojans Tuesday. St. Paul responded with scores of 25-22, 25-15 and 25-19 to improve to 13-6 overall and 9-2 in the FC. The Trojans fell to 10-8 overall and 5-6 in the FC. Ella Kalizewski finished with 12 kills and four blocks for St. Paul. Brooklyn Cassidy had nine kills, three blocks and 10 digs, while Kegney Stoll was 30 for 31 serving with 21 points, four aces and added five kills and seven digs. Also for the Flyers, Bella Guerra was 17 for 21 with three aces and led the defense with 17 digs. Kristin Matlack added 30 assists and 11 digs. Karinne Mitchell had 12 kills and three blocks for the Trojans, while Taylor Smith had 33 digs and was 12 for 14 serving with two aces. Mya Inmon had 19 assists, six kills and 11 digs, and Isabella Kimberlin was 20 for 21 serving with three aces and added 12 digs. St. Paul entertains Plymouth on Thursday while the Trojans head to Monroeville. New London 3 Crestview 1 OLIVESBURG — The Wildcats opened with a 30-28 loss in the first set, then finished off a Firelands Conference win in four over the host Cougars Tuesday night. After the lengthy first set, New London (10-9, 6-5) had scores of 25-16, 25-22 and 25-19. Pailee Wilson finished with 20 kills and four blocks for the Wildcats. Gracie Thomas finished with 11 kills, 19 assists, 18 digs and served six aces, while Raeann Mitchell finished with 21 assist and 19 digs. Also for New London, Ava Ringler had 29 digs. Brooke Clouse added six kills and three blocks, while Madison Rowland had five kills and 11 digs. New London visits Western Reserve on Thursday. Edison 3, Vermilion 0 VERMILION — The Chargers won their fifth straight match to improve to 7-11 overall and 4-3 in the Bay Division after Tuesday's road sweep of the Sailors. Edison won with scores of 25-11, 25-14 and 25-14. Jorja Byington had 12 points with three aces and nine kills. Dana Preston added five kills, six points and two aces, and Macari Harris also had five kills. Taylor Moore added 16 digs and 12 points. Also for Edison, Taylor Wlodarsky finished with 20 assists, 11 digs, four kills, three points and three aces. Paige McFadden had 11 assists, six points and two aces, while Ella Booth had 14 digs, four points and two kills; and Stella Brown added seven digs. Edison will host Huron on Tuesday.
