Pet 'n' Pup Parade this Saturday

Norwalk's annual Pet 'n' Pup Parade is planned for this Saturday, Sept. 28, and all children are invited to participate. Organized by the city's Parks and Recreation Department, the event features children and their pets dressed in costumes, marching down Main Street, led by the Norwalk Middle School band. Registration and judging will begin at 1:30 p.m. on the front lawn of Main Street Intermediate School at 80 E. Main St., with the parade starting at 2 p.m. Participants will march to Norwalk Public Library. At the conclusion of the parade, a king and queen will be selected from among the participants, and each will receive a new 20-inch Kink Launch BMX Bike from Excel Bike & Fitness at 44 E. Main St., Norwalk — a $330.00 value. In addition to a king and queen being crowned, first- and second-place prizes will be awarded to the best-dressed participants in five age categories. Afterward, a K-9 demo will take place and pet-related vendors will have tables set up at Suhr Family Park. There is no cost to participate in the parade. Donations will be accepted for the Huron County Humane Society and the Huron County Sheriff's Officer K-9 program. For children who do not have a pet but would like to march with one, the Huron County Humane Society will provide dogs that are available for adoption. A humane society volunteer will accompany each child and the dog during the parade.
