Stadium project moving along

Superintendent Brad Romano told the board of education Monday, "The stadium project is going extremely well, and there's a good possibility it may be finished this calendar year." He attributed this to the good weather since May, and the skill and efficiency of the construction workers. The board voted to include a new video scoreboard in the project instead of using the old one. The main part of the agenda was explanation and discussion of the state report card, which gave New London a score of 3/3.5 out of a possible 5. Romano said this indicates New London is meeting state standards and, in some cases, exceeding them. The goal is to raise the score to a 4 next year by putting more emphasis on areas that can be improved. In personnel matters the board hired Jennifer Adkins as a van driver and Colin Cole has a long-term sub and accepted the resignations of long-term sub Cathy Daly, cafeteria worker Crystal Cox and mechanic Hunter Robb. A list of new and revised policies was passed on first reading and will be on the agenda of the next meeting.
