Huron County Fair begins Monday

NORWALK — The Huron County Fair is set to get underway at 8 a.m. Monday. Final preparations around the fairgrounds were made over the weekend as various vendors, rides, campers along with animal and other exhibits moved in for the six-day event on Fair Rd. The fair opens at 8 a.m. Monday, followed by the the junior rabbit show, which gets underway at 9 a.m. Other highlights from the Monday schedule include the junior poultry showmanship competition, and the junior small equine show. Both those events are slated for 3:30 p.m. at the Show Arena and Wisenberger Arena, respectively. The FCS Review and Style Show is set for 5 p.m. at the Pickworth Judging Pavilion. When those awards are finished, a new junior fair queen will be crowned. Moved to Monday night in a schedule change, the contents is slated to start inside the Pickworth Pavilion at 7 p.m. The four queen contestants include Willard High School junior Ella Gates; Western Reserve senior Renee Miller; Monroeville senior Anessa Ruggles; and South Central junior Jenna Shepherd. Also at 7 p.m. is the pig scramble at the grandstand. General admission for single-day entry — which includes rides and grandstand events — is $10. A season pass costs $5, while a membership pass is $40. Children under three feet tall, excluding rides, receive free admission.
