Mobile crisis service offered in Huron County

The Huron County Board of Mental Health and Addiction Services (MHAS) is proud to announce that as of July 1, 2024, Connections Recovery Services has begun offering mobile crisis response services to Huron County residents. This new service is made available by the efforts and support of the MHAS Board and community partners including the Huron County Commissioners, City of Willard, Huron County Board of Developmental Disabilities, and the Mercy Health Foundation. The MHAS Board has the responsibility of monitoring the mental health, suicide, and substance use related incidents throughout the county and recognizes that as the mental health and substance use related needs of residents continue to rise, the Board must be proactive and diligent in ensuring services are implemented to address those needs. Over the years, the Board has recognized certain gaps and has worked with local providers to implement solutions to help residents, including increasing access to mobile, community-based crisis intervention services. The mobile crisis response services provided by Connections Recovery Services will not duplicate any existing service, rather it will fill a gap in response to the increased demand for mental health and substance use response and support. Below are descriptions of the available mobile, community-based crisis intervention services, all of which may be accessed at no cost to Huron County residents: Connections Recovery Services operates a mobile crisis response team that responds to complex mental health or substance use related calls for individuals of all ages, reducing the strain on law enforcement and local hospitals. The team has been in operation since 2021 in Sandusky, Seneca, Ottawa and Wyandot Counties. Their goal is to deescalate situations at the scene and link people in crisis with the resources needed to become stable within the community; however, they also have the ability to directly link people in crisis with acute hospitalization, including transporting them to the hospital, if needed. The mobile crisis response team will be available Monday through Friday from 9am – 5pm. Crisis referrals may be submitted through their crisis line at 419-552-1254. Let's Get Real provides services for residents seeking detox and/or treatment for substance use. They employ certified peer recovery support specialists who are available from 9am-5pm Monday through Friday to link individuals with the help they need to recover from substance use challenges. Let's Get Real staff also transport Huron County residents, at no cost to the resident, to substance use detox or treatment services. To contact to Let's Get Real, call 567-743-7130. Mobile Response and Stabilization Services (MRSS), operated by Family Life Counseling, provides mobile crisis response services for youth and young adults up to age 21 and their families who are experiencing difficulties or distress. Families and youth can receive assistance within 60 minutes after contacting MRSS. They may also receive up to 42 days of intensive, in-home services and linkage to on-going supports. MRSS is available Monday through Friday from 8am-8pm. To contact MRSS, call 567-274-8816.
