Willard man gets 16-to-19 years in prison

NORWALK — A Willard man was recently sentenced to prison after a jury found him guilty of multiple felony charges for breaking into a woman's home and threatening to assault her. Glenn P. Hall, 35, of the 2700 block of Peru Center Road, was indicted in two Huron County Common Pleas Court cases. On May 3, Hall was found guilty by a jury of: • One count of aggravated burglary, a first-degree felony • One count of burglary, a second-degree felony • One count of intimidation of an attorney, victim, or witness in a criminal case, a third-degree felony • One count of felonious assault, a second-degree felony • One count of domestic violence, a first-degree misdemeanor • One count of aggravated menacing, a first-degree misdemeanor The jury acquitted Hall on two counts of menacing by stalking, one count of domestic violence, one count of intimidation and one count of felonious assault. Officers from the Norwalk police department responded to a call at approximately 2:30 a.m. on June 24 for a report of a burglary in progress at an apartment complex in the 100 block of N. West St. Hall entered an apartment through an unlocked sliding door, the police report states. He allegedly threatened to kill the victim and cause a shootout with police because "he wasn't afraid to go back to jail," the police report states. Police arrived and arrested Hall after speaking with both him and the woman. Hall was sentenced to an overall prison term of 16 to 19-and-a-half years. He will also receive about eight months' credit off his sentence for time spent in jail. Once Hall is released from prison, he will be placed on a mandatory two to five years of post-release control.
