Norwalk baseball defeats Willard

WILLARD — The Norwalk baseball team got back in the win column on Wednesday, as the Truckers held off a rally by host Willard for a 10-9 non-league win at the Dean Ave. sports complex. The Truckers (6-13) erased a 4-2 deficit after two innings with a seven-run third inning, only for the Flashes (10-8) to trim into the 9-4 deficit and come within a run of tying the game. Avery Scheel had a pair of doubles and drove in three runs, and also scored twice, to pace Norwalk. Carter Harp was 3 for 3 and had two RBIs, while Tanner Harp also singled with an RBI. Tyler Norwood pitched three innings to get the win. He allowed three unearned runs on four hits. For Willard, Ethan Rodriguez was 2 for 5 with a double, a home run and three RBIs. Elijah Reed was 2 for 5 with a double and three RBIs, and Isaac Robinson was 2 for 4 with an RBI. Adams and Salazar each added a single and an RBI. Sam Konik placed third in the shot put with a toss of 44-feet-0.25 inches. The 4x800-meter girls relay team of Zuri Immel, Xavi Immel, Shyla Gruhlke and Grace Norris placed third in 8:53.95. The 4x800 boys team of Zade Oglesby, Jake Bissell, Kynan Sparks and Alex Christophel placed fourth in 8:52.24. TENNIS Huron 3, Edison 2 MILAN — The Chargers fell to 12-6 with Wednesday's home loss to the SBC Bay champion Tigers at Edison Park. Huron (16-1, 12-1) earned at least a share of the league title with the win. Huron won all three singles positions. Mason Schindley beat Noah Proctor (6-0, 6-0) at first singles, and Nick Walls topped Liz Campbell at second singles (6-3, 6-2). At third singles, Jason Lenczyk beat Andrew Gray (6-2, 6-0). At first doubles, Parker Campbell and Aidin Colbert won for the Chargers over Peter Cencer and Nolan Stockard (7-6 (4), 6-3). The second doubles pair of Jonah Main and Sam McClester also won for Edison, as they outlasted Huron's Michael Findley and Caleb Holmes (2-6, 6-4, 10-8).
