Norwalk falls to Sandusky in tight Lake match

SANDUSKY — The Norwalk boys tennis team lost a 3-2 heartbreaker to host Sandusky on Monday in an SBC Lake Division match. The Truckers (3-9, 3-5) split two matches that went three sets, losing in a tiebreaker at second doubles to decide the victor. At first singles, Norwalk's Devyn Emmons fell to Blake Ott (6-4, 6-1). Ronnie Freeman III beat Austin Ott in three at second singles, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4. At third singles, Sandusky's Tate Maillard beat Edward Ramos Cruz in two (6-2, 6-0). At first doubles, the team of Drew Thomas and Ethan Brown defeated Evan Hoffman and Brady Mullins (6-0, 6-1). At second doubles, Eli Kluding and Eva Ott fell to Adrik Purdy and Mason Henley, 3-6, 6-2, 7-6 (4). "Sandusky got the better of us tonight," Norwalk head coach Eric Mozina said. "We had two matchups go into a third set and we split them after some great efforts by both teams." In junior varsity matches, Wyatt Fox and Henry Daiga won (6-3), as did Abe Buie and Talen Young (7-5). Evan Minor and Allen Upton also played two sets (6-2, 6-4). Norwalk is right back at it on Tuesday at home against visiting Perkins in another SBC Lake match. Edison 4, Calvert 1 MILAN — The Chargers earned their 10th win of the season with Monday's SBC Bay Division victory over the Senecas. Parker Campbell outlasted Xavier Kimmet at first singles in three sets, 6-4, 3-6, 6-0. At second singles, Noah Proctor defeated Brad Wellman, 6-3, 7-6 (3). Third singles saw Jonah Main top Kennedy Cleland (6-2, 6-0). Calvert's lone win came at first doubles, as Kevin Ardner and Gavin Wagner beat Andrew Gray and Liz Campbell (6-4, 3-6, 6-2). The second doubles team of Keira Keoghan and Sam McClester beat Andrea Orr and Parker Nye (6-1,6-3). Edison (10-3) visits Willard on Wednesday in another league match.
