Clyde edges Norwalk for second time

NORWALK — Visiting Clyde won all three singles positions to claim a 3-2 win over host Norwalk for a second time this season in an SBC Lake Division tennis match on Thursday at the Norwalk Middle School courts. With the loss, the Truckers fell to 3-8 overall and 3-4 in the Lake. Clyde improved to 8-4 overall and 6-1 in the league. "It's obvious to see why Clyde is fighting for the league title," Norwalk head coach Eric Mozina said. "They have a very talented lineup, especially deep with Aidan Krintzline back after his injury. That all said, I thought our team played very well tonight." At first singles, Aidan Kritzline topped Norwalk's Devyn Emmons (6-3, 6-3). Alex Kritzline beat Ronnie Freeman III at second singles (6-0, 6-3), while Aric Kauble topped Edward Ramos Cruz (6-0, 6-0) at third singles. Norwalk's first doubles team of Drew Thomas and Ethan Brown outlasted Bodhi Webb and Chase Castle in three sets, 4-6, 6-1, 6-2. At second doubles, Eli Kluding and Eva Ott beat Justin Clark and Oscar Webb, 6-2, 7-5. "Devyn is playing some of his best tennis and he, Ronnie, and Edward are enjoying the challenge of playing singles right now," Mozina said. "They all have a lot of fight in them and love the competition. "Our two doubles teams tonight really worked hard for their wins. Drew and Ethan battled back to get a win, while Eli and Eva are really continuing to progress as a team." In junior varsity matches, Evan Minor fell (6-1, 8-2). Allen Upton and Talen Young lost (8-0, 8-3), while Abe Buie and Henry Daiga fell (8-3). The SBC Lake Division individual tournament is set for 9 a.m. Saturday in Norwalk. At third singles, Mason Dawson topped Noah Proctor in three sets, 4-6, 6-1, 7-6 (8). Winners for Edison included Aidin Colbert over Devin Peiffer at second singles (6-1, 6-0) and Noah Proctor over Tommy Dappert at third singles (6-1, 6-2). At first singles, Edison's Parker Campbell fell to Chase Young (6-1, 6-1). At No. 1 doubles, Perkins' Connor Beverick and Brodie Bibler beat Lizzie Campbell and Andrew Gray, 6-1, 7-6 (5). Edison's second doubles team of Jonah Main and Sam McClester lost a lengthy three-set match to Landon Williams and Ben Smith (1-6, 7-6 (5), 6-4).
