Fin Feather Fur buys Ashland bike shop

MILAN TWP. — Fin Feather Fur Outfitters — a leading sporting goods retailer in Ohio that offers hunting, fishing, camping and other related outdoor recreation equipment — recently announced it acquired the Ashland Bike Co., a respected and growing Ashland retailer. Noting it's a "strategic move," outfitters officials said this marks a significant milestone in Fin Feather Fur's ongoing commitment to provide the best products and services in its locations. Beyond the Milan store on Milan Road (U.S. 250) near the Ohio Turnpike, Fin Feather Fur also operates in Ashland, Canton, Middleburg Heights, Milan, Rossford and Youngstown. Outfitters officials said the acquisition will create more access for customers and increase inventory — and the company can now begin selling bicycles. "We are excited about the possibilities that this acquisition brings to the Fin and our valued employees and customers," said outfitters vice president Rees Vail, noting his company established itself in 1985. "By combining our strengths and expertise, we are well-positioned to reach a new audience, educating them about the cycling world." Outfitters officials want to ensure a "seamless transition" for the bike company and its employees, according to a statement. Anthony and Michelle Bunt, the company's previous owners, will join outfitters in a leadership role: Anthony will stay on as the store manager. Customers of the Ashland Bike, meanwhile, can expect uninterrupted service and support during the transition.
