Norwalk High School Drama prepares for upcoming musical

NORWALK – Norwalk High School drama students are busy preparing for their upcoming musical "Beauty and the Beast". The cast is in the final stages of rehearsing the show and making costumes. The show premieres on Thursday, March 14. "The shows coming along really well, we're all really excited," Sophomore Reese Wall said. "The cast is like a family, so we are all working together and we've gotten to make new friends and I'm really excited to perform." The musical will be held at the Norwalk High School Ernsthausen Performing Arts Center, with shows March 14-16 at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday, March 17 at 3:00 p.m. The "Beauty and the Beast" musical was originally supposed to be performed in 2020, but the show was cancelled a week prior due to the COVID-19 pandemic. "The original show got shut down from COVID-19, and that group had worked really hard to put on the show and then to not perform it was really upsetting. So now with this group, they especially want to do a good job to make the previous cast proud," Norwalk High School Theatre and Drama Director Robyn Rogers said. Junior Halle Barnes has an older brother who was in the original cast, and said that she is looking forward to doing justice to the show. "A lot of the cast from before is really supportive of it, and we're not starting from a fresh slate so it's easier on the directors and the cast," Barnes said.
