Simon Acts

The operators of Simon Acts recently told the New London Rotary Club about their organization. Simon Acts, a local organization whose mission is "spreading God's Love Through Service in our community" has been doing good works since 2017, when it was formed to help people in the New London, Greenwich, North Fairfield, and Wakeman areas. The Bible identifies Simon as a humble foreigner who was in the Jerusalem area during Jesus' crucifixion. He assisted Jesus in carrying his cross on the journey to be crucified. Mark Chase and Kevin Cramer are members of the board that runs the 501(c)3 organization that takes its inspiration from Simon. They recently had lunch with the New London Rotarians and told them about what the organization does. Simon Acts currently has six missions: family financial and spiritual assistance, children's Christmas gifts, Easter food baskets, family summer food baskets, senior food boxes and the Luke Clemons Medical Assistance Fund. Applications for those seeking financial and spiritual assistance can be obtained at and processed through area churches. Application forms may also be obtained at Firelands Electric, the New London Village office, and the New London library. Forms requesting Easter food baskets and family summer food assistance can be obtained from Miller's SuperValu in New London in February and May. Requests for senior food boxes can be made by calling 419-929-1520. Second Harvest Food Bank donates the food for the senior food box program. Other missions are funded by individual donors, companies and local agencies such as the Norwalk Area United Fund and Firelands Electric People's Fund. Because it is a volunteer organization with minimal expenses, close to 100% of donations go to those in need.
