Norwalk wrestling sweeps two duals

NORWALK — The Norwalk High School wrestling program swept a pair of duals on Wednesday in its home finale. The Truckers defeated Northwestern, 54-10, and Orrville, 40-26 on senior and Hall of Fame night at NHS. Going 2-0 for the Truckers included Aldynn Metzger at 106 pounds; Jackson James (120); Austin Ware (138); Gavin Lepley (2-0); Nico Helton (165); and Nick Howard (190). Cooper Gee (215) and Callie Helton also won their lone matches. Those who went 1-1 included Victor Negrete (126); NickToth (132); Brady Case (150) and Eian Reineck (175). Everyone won at least one match for the Truckers. "It was a really great night all around," Norwalk head coach Erich Metzger said. "The kids went out and gave it their all. It was great for the seniors, and everyone, to be in front of their home crowd and come out with a win. It was also really special to see so many other Norwalk coaches in attendance last night. "Norwalk has such an amazing coaching staff all around, so it was great to see them support our student-athletes," he added. "I greatly appreciate all of them along with our entire administration's support. Now it's time to get healthy and get ready for the SBC's and the state tournament trail." The Sandusky Bay Conference championships are set for Feb. 17 at Lakota High School. The following three weeks will include the sectional, district and state tournaments.
